Lets take a moment to read what our Director of Rehab had to say about a Veterans recent stay at our facility!

"At 83 years old, a veteran came to our facility after a frightening and life-changing accident.
While driving home to Nevada from a trip, he was involved in a serious rollover crash in New
Mexico. After leaving the hospital, he came to us for skilled nursing care, wounded and facing a
long road to recovery.

His journey was far from easy. During his stay, he experienced several setbacks that required
him to return to the hospital. At times, his condition was very serious, and there were real
concerns about how much he would be able to recover. For a while, it was unclear what the
future would look like for him.

But slowly, things began to change.

With plenty of determination—and more than a little grit—he began participating in therapy. Day
by day, he grew stronger. He worked with physical therapy to rebuild his mobility, with
occupational therapy to regain daily skills, and with speech therapy along the way. What once
seemed uncertain began turning into real progress. Our team watched as he pushed himself,
steadily regaining abilities that we weren’t sure would return.

Just as remarkable as his recovery was the support that formed around him. In a situation that
once felt uncertain, people in his life stepped forward in meaningful and unexpected ways. An
old flame from Texas reentered his life and made the decision to relocate and support him as he
transitioned home. At the same time, his sister in Nevada committed to helping as well. She
participated in caregiver training by phone and even traveled to meet him so she could fly home
with him and ensure he arrived safely.

What once looked like a very uncertain discharge plan slowly turned into a strong and
coordinated support system. By the end of his stay, this veteran had done something remarkable. Not only had he worked his way back from serious setbacks, he had regained enough strength and independence to return home to Nevada.

Because of his determination—and the unexpected kindness and commitment of the people
who stepped forward to support him—he now has the opportunity to age in place and continue
living his life in the place he calls home.

His story reminds us that recovery doesn’t always follow the path we expect. Sometimes
resilience, second chances, and the support of others can lead to outcomes better than anyone
imagined."

The West showed UP last night in New Mexico—and let’s just say… they know how to throw down a spicy celebration. 🌶️🔥
From the moment you walked in, the energy was undeniable. Laughter, pride, and pure joy filled the room as we came together to celebrate the incredible teams who bring our mission to life every single day. This wasn’t just an awards ceremony—it was a reflection of what happens when passion, purpose, and people collide.
And yes… New Mexico brought the flavor. Chile, culture, and a whole lot of heart made the night unforgettable. 🌶️
But beyond the fun, what stood out most were the stories—the moments of compassion, teamwork, and excellence that define what it truly means to Lead with Heart. Every award represented lives touched, standards raised, and teams going above and beyond.
To our New Mexico & Washington teams—thank you for setting the bar high and reminding us all what it looks like to show up with pride, energy, and heart.
The West didn’t just host a celebration… they made a statement. 💙

🧠💜 The Power of Us. The Power of Now.

Lillian Reda, Genesis' National Director of Memory Support Clinical Practice and Education, recently attended the Alzheimer's Association Community Leaders Summit in Anaheim, CA.

This inspiring gathering brings together community leaders from across the country to share ideas, strengthen partnerships, and advance a collective vision of a world without Alzheimer’s and all other forms of dementia. The summit energizes participants to expand outreach, support, and impact in communities nationwide.

Reflecting on the experience, Lillian shared, “It was truly an impactful learning and networking experience. The ‘purple’ passion among attendees, the powerful personal stories shared, and the insights into the current momentum in care and treatment advancements were not only inspiring but absolutely energizing.”

Genesis is also proud to mark 17 years of participation as a National Team supporting Walk to End Alzheimer’s and Do What You Love to End ALZ, along with our continued efforts to expand access to education, support programs, advocacy, and research.
