Geer works with adolescents and adults navigating trauma and PTSD, anxiety, grief and loss, anger, self-esteem, attachment wounds, religious trauma, difficult life transitions, and LGBTQIA+ experiences.

His approach is compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed, with space to explore not only what you’re struggling with, but the deeper patterns and experiences underneath it.

Hi.
Most of us think our anxiety is there because of our worries. But it can often mean something else entirely. It can indicate a nervous system that never learned it was safe to slow down.
It kept you safe. It is just a body that has been on guard for a really long time.

Relational trauma does not always look like one defining moment.
Sometimes it is a childhood of walking on eggshells. A parent who was emotionally absent. A relationship that slowly made you feel small. Years of not feeling safe enough to be yourself.
And your nervous system filed all of it away as: closeness is not safe.
So now it tries to protect you in every relationship, even the good ones.
You might push people away before they can leave. You might hold on too tight. You might feel safest completely alone.
These are not character flaws. These are survival patterns. And they can heal.

The one who held it together for everyone else. The one who was taught that asking for help was weakness. The one who inherited survival mode without anyone ever naming it.
Generational trauma is not a dramatic concept. It is the anxiety your grandmother never got to treat. The silence your father used because vulnerability was never safe for him. The patterns that got handed down because nobody had the tools to break them.
You can be the one who breaks them.

When ADHD and trauma exist together, they interact in ways that are still underrecognized in mental health care.
Research shows people with ADHD are significantly more likely to develop PTSD than those without it. The symptoms of both conditions overlap almost completely. Difficulty concentrating. Restlessness. Emotional dysregulation. Hypervigilance. Feeling constantly on edge.
Cecilia, one of our clinicians, specializes in ADHD and trauma informed care. This intersection is some of the most meaningful work we do at LFC.
