Real care updates from Nest In Place caregivers...
(transitional care post-hospital stay)

Good visit with Anne, I was able to help her quite a bit.
She was in bed on the phone when I arrived. She has been feeling weak so has been staying in bed. I put her life alert necklace on her, gave her cereal for breakfast, cleaned the kitchen and fridge out. Made her coffee, reminded her of her pills, she has fresh water by the bed as well. I organized the items that she brought home from the hospital and we confirmed with the hospital that a visiting nurse will be coming to see her to begin care.

I told her I would be back this afternoon.

(first visit)

It was very nice meeting Sandra and Tony today.

Upon arrival, [manager] and I spoke with them about their interests, household tasks they would like assistance with, and their preferred schedule. We also discussed meal preparation. I prepared a stir-fry for them and made extra portions to have as leftovers for tomorrow.

Sandra will generally guide us toward the areas where she needs assistance. I washed the dishes and helped her organize the linen closet. We also discussed the dinner we are preparing for Friday and which meals she would like prepared for the weekend.

Sandra and I talked about putting together a list of tasks she would like completed around the house so she can share it with us and we can work through everything accordingly.

After they finished dinner, we sat together and enjoyed a nice conversation. It was a pleasant first visit, and I look forward to getting to know them better.

Real care updates from Nest In Place caregivers...

We had a nice afternoon. Took them to their haircut appointments and then came back to house to do a few tasks. Emptied garbage and recycling into bins downstairs and took them to the top of driveway for tomorrow’s pick up. Folded a load of laundry and put away. Asked if anything else needed and they said no. See them Friday for shopping!

Another good day with Sarah! Brought her a small bouquet of sunflowers from my garden to brighten up this dreary day! Today is bedding day so I stripped the bed & put fresh ones on, assisted into shower, washed her back & hair, assisted drying her back & legs, assisted with dressing & lotioned her feet. Chatted with the rest of our time & took trash with me when I left!

Wonderful shift with Tony today!! He greeted me at the door and we started chatting. He wanted some chicken that was in the fridge so I baked it for him in the oven for lunch! While that was being made we talked for a while, then I wiped down the counters while he was busying himself with things in his room and at the table. I folded the laundry that was in the dryer. His chicken finished right before i needed to leave and so I prepared it on the plate and served it to him! Bid him a goodbye!

Great nice with Barbara. When I arrived we put some puzzles together. Asked her if she wanted to go for a walk before it started raining. She was excited to go. She told me she went for walk in the afternoon. But wanted to go again. We walked down to the end of the development and back. Got back in time before it started to rain. Then we played some Uno she is doing great with knowing how to play the game. Then the last half hour we sat out back and she talked about the times going to the beach. Then told her to have a great night and she was going back in to watch the Phillies.

Good day with Joan! Ankles still looked good, she was tired from the early wake up today, but the shower took longer than usual to get hot so that woke her up pretty quickly! No hair wash today since it’s Wednesday, did wash her back & dried it & dried her legs, assisted with toe protector and dressing, then we tried to see the Eclipse in Iceland online but only got a computer simulation of the sun which was a bummer, but it got us talking about vacation destinations, she told me about her trips to Bar Harbor & the trip to Lancaster where she stayed in a hotel shaped like a ship 😂 chatted with the rest of our time and took the trash out with me!

(awake overnight care)

Great night with my guy! We watched a little TV last night, he went to bed around 10pm… woke up 2x throughout the night to use the bathroom.

He woke up at 7am, wiped him down, changed brief and clothes. He had a cup of coffee.

I washed clothes, put the dishes away, made the bed, we walked to take the garbage out.. he reminded me to water the plants.. and we sat, chatted and watched the news until the end of my shift.
