World Cup Spotlight: ACL Injuries in Soccer

As the World Cup kicks off, it brings back memories of when I saw Italy play Norway in NY the last time the World Cup was in the USA. As a former soccer player I look forward to the competition to come. As we enjoy watching the world’s best compete on the biggest stage, it’s also a reminder of the physical demands of soccer as well as the high risk for ACL injuries—one of the most common serious knee injuries in the sport.

Most ACL injuries occur from no contact twisting incidents, pivoting/cutting, or improper landing mechanics. Many ACL injuries may be preventable with proper strength training, neuromuscular training, balance work, and injury prevention programs.

Stay active, train smart, and protect your knees so you can keep playing the game you love.

A day late but not forgotten.

On June 6, we remember the courage, sacrifice, and determination of the Allied forces who landed on the beaches of Normandy and helped change the course of history.

Their bravery in the face of overwhelming odds reminds us that freedom is earned through service, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to others.

We honor the heroes of D-Day and all who have served to defend liberty.

“May we never forget their courage, their sacrifice, and the freedoms they secured for future generations.”

I heard a quote from an elite athlete today…

“Everyone talks about mental toughness but no one tells you what it is.” - Olivia

As a former athlete I remember being told…
“It’s 90-% mental.”
“Get mentally tough”
“Deep breath and get back in the game mentally.”
“Don’t let her beat you mentally.”
And on and on

…but few people explain what it really is.

Mental toughness isn’t being fearless.
It’s not ignoring pain.
It’s not pretending everything is okay.

Mental toughness is showing up when you don’t feel like it.
It’s staying disciplined when motivation fades.
It’s choosing growth over comfort.
It’s getting back up after setbacks, failures, and disappointments.

The strongest people aren’t the ones who never struggle—they’re the ones who keep moving forward despite the struggle.

Mental toughness is resilience in action.
