Guiding Arrows Counseling is proud to introduce Jack Quinn, Graduate Student Intern. There is a need for more mental health support for our boys and young men in Parker County, and Jack is the perfect one to fill this gap.

Jack currently has Friday availability in Aledo with a rate of $50/session.

As a former D1 athlete, Jack understands the pressure many boys and young men carry and how difficult it can be to talk about what’s really going on underneath the surface. His approach is real, down-to-earth, and focused on helping clients build confidence, handle stress in healthier ways, and feel more steady in everyday life.

Jack works with boys, teens, and young men (10+) who may be struggling with:
- Anxiety and overthinking
- Depression or shutting down
- Low confidence and self-criticism
- Sports and performance pressure
- Anger and frustration
- Family transitions such as divorce
- Feeling disconnected or stuck

Therapy doesn’t have to feel intimidating. Sometimes having the right person to talk to can make all the difference.

Reach out to learn more or schedule a session with Guiding Arrows Counseling.

If your child has ever screamed “I HATE YOU!” like they’re auditioning for a drama series… this is for you. 😅

Spoiler: they don’t actually hate you.

Here's what they really mean and what to say instead:

If you’ve ever had your child look you straight in the face and yell, “I hate you!” then this post is for you.

Does it feel like everyone’s patience is thinner and emotions are bigger lately? You’re not alone. Post holiday season can be rough!

This breaks down how intentional movement can help kids regulate and help parents feel less reactive too. This has been a big topic in the office recently, so here you go...

If you’re reading this during a time when routines are off, expectations are high, and everyone’s nervous system feels stretched thin, let me guess what your house sounds like right now: More noise. More sibling arguments. More emotional outbursts. And parents who feel overstimulated, exhausted,...

For parents of teens who seem “fine” on the outside but exhausted on the inside:

Many high-masking teens don’t look like they’re struggling. They’re doing school, showing up, and holding it together. But underneath, they may be burned out from constantly pushing, adjusting, and hiding parts of themselves to fit in.

This blog is written directly for teens. It explains burnout in clear language, helps them recognize masking in daily life, and offers gentle, practical ways to start being more themselves without pressure or labels.

If your teen has been more withdrawn, overwhelmed, irritable, or exhausted lately, this may help them feel seen and less alone.

💛 You can read it together or pass it along.

If you’re reading this and thinking, “I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but I can’t keep doing this,” you’re not being dramatic and you’re definitely not alone. Burnout is your brain and nervous system saying, “I can’t keep doing this the same way anymore.” Burnout doesn’t u...

When one child in the family experiences high levels of aggression, parents often carry heavy worries for their other children....

These fears are real. And yet, they don’t have to be the end of the story.

When one child in the family experiences high levels of aggression, parents often carry heavy worries for their other children. “Will this cause trauma?” “Will they ever have a close sibling relationship?” “Am I neglecting one child to manage the other’s behaviors?” These fears are

As your kiddo comes home from school, remember this:

- Meltdowns aren’t manipulation; they’re release.

- And unmasking isn’t a setback; it’s healing.

If you’re a parent of a neurodivergent child, you might know this pattern all too well: your child seems calm, polite, and “fine” all day at school, but the second they walk through the door at home, the meltdowns begin. You may feel confused, frustrated, or even blamed. But here’s the truth...

New week, new day, new capacity. It only takes 3 questions to come back to yourself and your child.

Have you ever noticed that some days you wake up ready to take on the world and other days, just getting out of bed feels like a victory? That’s capacity. It shifts daily, sometimes even moment by moment. Two minutes ago you walked to the kitchen feeling just fine to do the dishes, but then you
