Intervention Share: Lyric Analysis! 🎼

In music therapy, one way we use music is to reflect on our values, experiences, and emotions. Exploring topics like self-confidence, community, and identity through discussion of lyrical content can promote the development of positive relationships with oneself and others, which can also support mental health as a whole.

“Crown” by CHIKA utilizes the metaphor of obtaining and maintaining a crown to explore these themes and what it means to have trust and belief in yourself. We’ve included some discussion questions to answer after listening to the song- let us know what you think!

Song Spotlight! 🔦

As we’ve transitioned into September, the Wildflower team took the time to listen to “End of August” by Noah Kahan together 🍂 It was a great opportunity not only to reconnect with one another through music, but also to learn how we individually interpreted the song and how we’d each use it in a music therapy session!

Swipe to see what themes came up for us upon listening, as well as some reflection questions we might utilize in music interventions to support our clients through transitions and times of change in their lives.
