Same concept applies with numerous over exertion scenarios in the body. From your neck to your hips.

Muscle weakness and imbalance both create excessive pull on other structures working overtime to keep us moving.

I believe we’re seeing more and more of this in cervical X-rays and pathologies due to poor posture becoming more “normal”.

Hello friends!
Your favorite remote receptionist (that’s me! Kristen!) has returned from vacation. I have reclaimed work phone, dusted it off and I’m diving back into messages like a woman on a mission.

Destiny held the fort down while I was away, but she was definitely ready to hand it back to me. Thank you all for your patience. I’m here, I’m caffeinated and I’m getting everything back in order. 🤗

Two Major Actions Here:

1.) Exactly what it says especially when someone is trying to squeeze all this into only 60 minutes. FYI- 60 minutes is rarely a full body with me, you get to pick “1 Thing” maybe two. Probably not 🤣

2.) This depiction is accurate to the fools blowing through the intake form and not taking the time to fill it out only to show up saying “I didn’t put any of this on my intake forms but I have………………… 23 major injuries, surgeries, amputations, and growths, can you fix all that in 60 minutes?”……. later 🤣🤣🤣

Every now and then I venture out of the office to make house calls. Both for horses and their humans.

Horses have been more rare, unless, of course, they show up at the office and I work on them in the parking lot 😅🎠

Today was a field trip day. I miss being outside so much. Being inside a dark room for 8+ hours a day is HARD. It’s taxing on your mental health, serotonin, Vitamin D balance, Circadian Rhythms, and so much more. It was a blessing to be able to finish each session and walk out to this every time. It’s a recharge deeper than I knew I needed.

Being able to bring a session to someone’s home and place of safety is special. Today was for a Veteran. If you know me, you know where my heart is for Veterans.

Thankfully, not everyone is troubled by the loud vehicles going past the office Downtown, or the obnoxiously loud exhaust that comes from the 100mph speed racers. However, I do have people come to me for nervous system regulation and trauma informed bodywork that have PTSD, anxiety, and more.

Veterans especially have a tough time with the sudden bursts of noise outside my treatment window. It breaks my heart every time I finally earn the body and mind’s trust enough for them to finally fall asleep only to be shattered awake by someone in the public lot revving an engine or hollering. Or both.

I would give it all away if I could have my office out of town, in the quiet. The view doesn’t even have to be this beautiful 🤣

Until then- my heart leads me on field trips and home visits for those that need to feel a bit safer.

My business got a clean bill of health today from the Alabama Board of Massage Therapy.

Running an ethical and lawful practice takes dedication, education, and boundaries.

If I had to pick one of the hardest things about this profession- It would be the business side of keeping clients and myself safe by running my practice professionally to the best of my ability.

Not all massage therapy businesses and therapists are created equal. Just because someone is bookable online or by phone for a massage- that does not mean they are completely legal or even have proper credentialing.

Clients and connoisseurs of massage. It’s your responsibility to vet your therapist. Here’s a quick check list to help tell if your therapist is legit:

ALWAYS look for an Alabama Massage Therapy Registration Number

✅ LMTs are required to have both their AL LMT # and Establishment # on all advertising, signage, website, and booking software.

✅ Don’t see a License Number? Ask for it before booking

✅ Why get the License Number? Because you can run it on the Alabama Massage Licensing Board website! If you can’t look someone up- they’re probably not legal.

‼️Sex Trafficking and Exploitation‼️
Thats why license verification matters! Massage therapy continues to be an underground cess pool for illegal activities to be hidden. Even if a business or office looks legit it may not be.

✅ When you walk into any massage office. You should see State Issued Licenses on the wall for public view. Look for it the next time you’re in for a massage.
