David Ingram Flurry, age 72, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
David was born in Birmingham, Alabama on January 15, 1954 and spent most of his life in the greater Birmingham area. His love of all things aviation led him to join The United States Air Force after graduation. After an honorable discharge from The United States Air Force, David began work for South Central Bell as an operator where he continued a decades long career in telecom before finishing out his working days with The United States Postal Service. Unfortunately, less than a year after retirement, David was diagnosed with dementia; a disease that took his wit, sarcasm and humor from us some time before it took his body.
David was preceded in death by his parents Charlie D. Flurry and Dorothy Sue Ingram Flurry.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Stephens Flurry; daughter, Sara (Jay) McFarland; son, Justin
(Ashley) Flurry; grandchildren, Hadley, Audrey and Mallory McFarland, Carter and Caroline Flurry. As well as siblings, Dan (Melinda) Flurry, Karen (Jim) Booth, Pam (Dan) Ison, Bill (Rose) Flurry, Bob Flurry and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
