🇺🇸 Happy "Actual" Independence Day! 🎆

Did you know we are celebrating two days too late? While everyone gets ready for the fireworks on the 4th, history buffs know that today, July 2nd, is when the real magic happened.
Here are 5 Mind-Blowing Facts to drop at your barbecue this weekend:

🇺🇸John Adams was team July 2nd. He was so sure today would be the national holiday that he wrote to his wife predicting future generations would celebrate July 2nd with pomp, parades, and illuminations. He even famously boycotted July 4th events in protest!

🇺🇸The 4th was just for paperwork.
On July 2nd, the Continental Congress officially voted to break away from Great Britain. July 4th was simply the day they approved the final typed wording on the document.

🇺🇸The famous signatures came much later.
Nobody signed the Declaration of Independence as a big group on July 4th. Only two men signed that day; the rest didn't ink their names until August 2nd or later.

🇺🇸 A spooky presidential coincidence.
Three of the first five U.S. presidents—John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Monroe—all died on the 4th of July. Adams and Jefferson actually died on the exact same day in 1826.

🇺🇸 We eat a staggering amount of hot dogs. According to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, Americans will smash an estimated 150 million hot dogs over this holiday weekend alone. So go ahead and fire up the grill early—technically, you have a historical excuse to celebrate all weekend long! 🍔✨

🎆 4th of July Fun Facts! 🇺🇸
The countdown to Independence Day is on! As we get ready to celebrate with our family, friends, and neighbors, here are three fun history facts you can share at your holiday barbecue:
1️⃣ A different date? John Adams firmly believed that Independence Day should be celebrated on July 2nd—the day Congress actually voted for independence—and would reportedly turn down invitations to July 4th events in protest!
2️⃣ A historic coincidence: Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, both founding fathers and presidents, died on the exact same day: July 4, 1826—exactly 50 years after the Declaration of Independence was adopted.
3️⃣ Keeping it cool: The very first official 4th of July White House celebration didn't happen until 1801, hosted by Thomas Jefferson.
Whether you are enjoying a backyard BBQ, watching spectacular local fireworks, or just keeping it chill indoors with the AC, your friends at Ivy Creek Home Health hope you have a safe, happy, and healthy holiday!
