We are very proud of our partnership with Northern Virginia Community College Workforce Development to educate the newest healthcare professionals in our region. Our investment in NOVA Community College programs is changing the lives of students and will change the lives of the patients that they will care for in the future.

We were delighted to celebrate the graduation of the latest cohort of Practical Nursing students last week. Our Regional Director of Operations, Donna Shaw, RN, LNHA, joined the graduates for a photo with Northern Virginia Community College President, Dr. Anne Kress, and later spoke to the graduating class about the joy of being a nurse and the many paths that a career in nursing can take.

In the words of Donna, "Some days will be harder than others but remember that your kindness and care will never be forgotten by the people that you care for."

Congratulations to this graduating class, we look forward to your next chapter of success!

We are proud to sponsor the 6th annual Rubber Duck Race supporting Brain Injury Services.

We are the first American Heart Association Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Center in Virginia, and we pursued this certification because we understand the unique needs of people recovering from traumatic brain injury.

Adopt a Duck and help provide individuals with free resources to work toward greater independence, connect with valuable resources, and pursue goals that inspire them.

Connection has no age!

Our intergenerational summer camp kicked off this week and is already filled with laughter, learning, and new friendships! A few of our young campers spent the day with our residents participating in games, crafts and even a talent show.

We're already looking forward to next summer!

Thoughtful care includes the details behind the scenes.

We caught Saidu Kamara, LPN, documenting clinical notes. Clear, timely documentation helps keep our care team informed, aligned, and focused on each patient’s individual needs.

This week we invite you to meet Grace Kanu, CNA, an integral part of our incredible team!

Since joining Alexandria in January 2026 as a new CNA, Grace has quickly made a meaningful impact through her compassion and genuine desire to help others. Whether she sees someone in need or simply an opportunity to lend a hand, Grace is always ready to step in—and we are so grateful she chose to step into healthcare and our community!

Grace lives and works in the City of Alexandria with her husband and daughter, who will be starting first grade this year. In just a short time, she has also formed special connections with our residents. In fact, when she has a day off, they can often be heard asking, “Where is my Grace?”

Thank you, Grace, for the kindness, dedication, and heart you bring to Alexandria each day. We are lucky to have you on our team!
