If slowing down makes you anxious, like the second you stop you’re somehow falling behind, you’re not lazy and you’re not broken, it’s just that doing has always felt safer than resting.
Here’s what I keep coming back to, nobody questions taking rest days from the gym, we know that’s when the body actually recovers and gets stronger. But somehow when it comes to our lives, rest feels like slacking, like we have to keep going to be worth anything. It’s the same principle, you just never learned to apply it to yourself.
I wrote more about why slowing down feels so hard, and what’s actually underneath it, on the blog. Link’s in my bio, or you can copy this one: https://www.therosecoloredcouch.com/why-does-it-feel-so-hard-to-slow-down
The Rose Colored Couch is here to inspire, encourage reflection, and educate, but these posts aren’t a substitute for therapy. My hope is to help you shift how you see yourself and your story. Take what resonates, leave what doesn’t, and be gentle with yourself along the way.
