We're grateful to have participated in the first-ever SHRM Intern Career Fair hosted by the Society for Human Resource Management!

Last week, our team members Reland Finch, David Belles, and Christy Heyn represented Healthy Minds Therapy, connecting with emerging professionals, sharing insights about careers in mental health, and discussing opportunities to grow within our practice.

It was inspiring to meet students eager to begin their careers and to be part of an event dedicated to helping interns expand their professional networks, explore career paths, and learn from organizations across the community.

A big thank you to SHRM for organizing such a meaningful event and for inviting us to participate. We're proud to support the next generation of mental health professionals and look forward to future opportunities to connect with aspiring clinicians.

Rest isn't something you earn. It's something your nervous system requires. πŸ’™

This month's Founder's Blog Series is a personal reflection from our Founder & Chief Visionary Officer, Alycia Burant, on a summer that brought unexpected challenges, important reminders, and a renewed appreciation for the power of rest.

As therapists, leaders, parents, caregivers, and helping professionals, it's easy to believe we need to keep pushing through. But sustainable productivity doesn't come from doing more, it comes from giving ourselves the space to recover.

In this heartfelt piece, Alycia shares:

✨ Why the "oxygen mask" principle applies to all of us
✨ How chronic stress impacts our nervous systems
✨ Small, intentional ways to create moments of restoration, even during difficult seasons
✨ Why regulated humans make better therapists, leaders, partners, and parents

One reminder worth holding onto:

"Rest is not the absence of productivity. Rest is what makes sustainable productivity possible."

We hope this month's blog encourages you to slow down, protect your peace, and remember that caring for yourself isn't selfish; it's essential.

Rest is not a reward for working hard enough. Rest is not something we earn after we have crossed every item off the to-do list. Rest is a fundamental human.

Stress and anxiety are often used interchangeably, but they're not the same.

While they can feel similar, understanding the difference can help you better recognize what you're experiencing and choose the support that best meets your needs.

πŸ’ Stress is often connected to external situations like deadlines, difficult conversations, or a busy schedule. It typically eases once the situation is resolved.

πŸ’™ Anxiety often lingers, even after the stressor is gone. It can show up as persistent "what if" thoughts, excessive worry, or a sense that something isn't quite safe, even when there's no immediate threat.

Knowing the difference is an important step toward caring for your mental health with compassion and intention.

Read our latest blog to learn more about the differences between stress and anxiety, why they matter, and strategies for managing each.
