The Physician & Midwife Collaborative Practice was born out of the notion that as medicine and technology advances, “care” should still be the foundation of providing medical care to women. We focus on providing compassion, education and support in tandem with the best medical course of action for the individual. By bringing together board-certified OB/GYNs and midwives, we are able to provide our

patients with high-touch care in combination with the latest medical technology. This may translate to planning for a natural childbirth with a first-time mother or creating a comprehensive treatment plan, including exercise for a woman who is struggling with menopause. We also do our best to keep this level of care accessible, by offering multiple providers, four office locations, extensive office hours, and 24/7 on-site staff at Inova Alexandria Hospital. In order to respond efficiently and accurately to your needs, we also maintain electronic medical records and offer centralized support staff who can access your lab results and quickly set appointments. PMOS can impact:

From social media trends to wellness influencers, there is no shortage of menopause advice online, but not every recommendation is evidence-based or safe for your body.

Symptoms like hot flashes, sleep changes, mood shifts, brain fog, and vaginal dryness deserve thoughtful, personalized care, not random internet remedies.

If you are experiencing menopause or perimenopause symptoms, talk with your provider before starting supplements, medications, or treatments you see online.

Your health history, symptoms, and goals matter.

In this video, Dr. Lorraine Cummings from our sister practice, Susquehanna OB/GYN & Nurse Midwifery, explains why pregnancy dating starts from the first day of your last menstrual period, and why many patients are already considered about four weeks pregnant by the time they get a positive test.

Understanding how due dates are determined can help make those early weeks a little less confusing.
