Dinacharya Series - Week 10
Could a Neti Pot Help You Breathe a Little Easier?
While a neti pot is not for everyone, it can be a simple Ayurvedic self-care practice that may provide relief when dealing with nasal congestion, seasonal allergies, or a feeling of heaviness in the head.
Clear breathing supports the healthy flow of Prana—our vital life force. When the nasal passages become congested, we may feel foggy, sluggish, and disconnected from our natural sense of vitality.
A properly used neti pot may help:
✨ Clear excess mucus and congestion
✨ Reduce exposure to allergens and irritants
✨ Support easier breathing
✨ Promote mental clarity and focus
✨ Prepare the nasal passages for practices such as Nasya oil
This practice typically takes just a few minutes and can become part of a nourishing morning routine.
A few important precautions:
✔️ Always use sterile, distilled, or previously boiled water that has been cooled.
✔️ Use the appropriate saline solution.
✔️ Avoid using a neti pot if you have a completely blocked nose, active ear infection, or unless advised otherwise by your healthcare provider.
✔️ If you are unsure whether it is appropriate for you, seek guidance from a qualified healthcare professional.
One of the greatest lessons Ayurveda teaches is that small daily practices, done consistently, often create the biggest shifts in how we feel.
Sometimes restoring your energy doesn’t require adding something complicated—it starts with simply clearing the path for the next breath.
Have you ever used a neti pot? What was your experience?
