Martha “Eliz” Elizabeth Turner,91, of California, KY passed away on Saturday September 5, 2026. She was born in Breathitt, KY on August 5, 1935, to her parents Roger and Sallie Jane (Deaton) Turner.

She retired from Kahns as a factory line worker. She also worked as a Cashier at the Central Market for 15 years. She was a member of the New Macedonia Old Regular Baptist Church in Newport; she really enjoyed fishing and loved being with her family and grandchildren making memories and sharing stories.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings; James Turner, John A. Turner, Clay Turner, Thomas Turner, Pauline Deaton, Mima McCullah and Dorothy Stargle.

She leaves behind a legacy of love with her family; her daughter Lavon Turner, son Roger “Dobie” Turner, a sister Mabel Combs, 4 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Cooper Funeral Home on Wednesday September 9, 2026, from 5:00pm- 8:00pm. Funeral Service will be held at Cooper Funeral Home on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Alexandria Cemetery.

James August Parker Jr., 69, of Cold Spring, KY passed away on the morning of September 5, 2026. He was the son of James A. and Rosemary (McLeod) Parker Sr. He was a hard worker through and through. He was a Union Journeyman Roofer for Imbus for many years. He loved to stay busy, especially woodworking, he loved making trinket boxes and working on cars. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, enjoyed puzzles, Nascar Racing and watching TV. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his family and grandchildren making memories.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Joshua Parker and his sisters and brothers.

He leaves behind his wife Cheryl Bonapfel and daughters; Victoria (Earl) Sebastian, Amy (Steve) Stewart, and Nicole (Josh) McMurray, and 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Life will be held at later date.

Joan Ann Carr, 61, of Highland Heights, KY passed away on September 3, 2026. She was the daughter of Thomas and Dolores Carr. She worked as a Custodian for NKU for 20 plus years. She loved music and crafts and enjoyed a good shopping trip to Walmart, Meijer’s, Kroger’s or Kohl’s.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother-in-law Wayne Geiman and nephew Chad Twehues.

She leaves behind her twin sister Judy Carr, sisters; Margaret (Jerry)Twehues, Nancy Geiman, Patty (Dan) Kroger and Joyce (Rick) Trauth. Nieces and Nephews; Marla (Cameron) Blau, Marc (Monica) Twehues, Wayne (Nikia) Geiman, Jodi (Kevin) Carson, Tonya
(Eric Marcus) Geiman, Kristy (Joshua) Schalk, Karey (Aaron) Linkugel, Ryan (Heather) Trauth,Rachel (Adam) Caswell, along with 16 great nieces and nephews.

Cheryl Ann Colvin (nee Kiefer), 78, of Alexandria KY passed away peacefully September 2, 2026. She was surrounded by her loving family to help her dance into Heaven. Cheryl was born to the late Leonard Carl and Ella Margaret Kiefer in Dayton KY on 02/23/1948.
Cheryl grew up in Bellevue KY and graduated from Bellevue High School in 1966. She always loved that little town and all the wonderful people she knew. She spent a lifetime sharing her stories about her Straight A’s, her band classes, her music teacher and her plays. She truly loved to be a performer, never shy to just belt out a song. After graduation from high school, Cheryl made the decision to get married and start her family. She enjoyed being a homemaker for many years as that allowed her the opportunity to make friends with the ladies in Cold Spring who turned out to be very good friends to her for almost 50 years.
After life took a U-turn for Cheryl, she enrolled in NKU where she worked very diligently to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy. She worked very hard to still get those Straight A’s in college while being a single Mom. Upon graduation she was hired by the State of KY as an Auditor of Public Accounts. While she did enjoy her auditing career, she found true happiness in her retirement in 2014.
Cheryl met and married the love of her life in 1987, Carl Colvin. He truly was her world. He loved her and supported her as she completed her education at NKU. They were a great couple. Her ‘Cute Little Farmer’ was a blessing for her and all of us. When Carl passed away in 2020, he took a huge piece of her heart. She missed him dearly every day.
Cheryl leaves behind her daughter Tammy (Tom- the best son-in-law she could have asked for) Baumann and son Brian Wildeboer. Grandchildren Sarah (Nolan) Harvey, Samantha (Kyle) Cadwallader, Thomas (Taylor) Baumann, Dylan (Tara) Wildeboer, Grace (Cain) Baker, Ethan and Josie Wildeboer and Trevor Colvin- Stepsons Randy (Marianne) Colvin and Kevin (Lisa) Colvin- Great Grandchildren -10 plus 1 sweet baby boy in October 2026. Cheryl also leaves behind her sisters Lory, Annette and Jan. Plus, we cannot forget she is leaving behind her ‘Bickering Bestie’ Aunt Evelyn Kiefer. Cheryl is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly. She is predeceased by her beloved Carl, her parents and brothers Darryl, Dennis, Leonard, Rory and Brett as well as her niece Shannon Lawrence.
Visitation for Cheryl will be held Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Cooper Funeral Home in Alexandria KY 9am-11am. Prayer Service will be held at 11am. Graveside burial for family. Luncheon after prayer service and burial. Details for luncheon will be available at the funeral home. Robin Michelle Wallace, 54, of Florence, passed away on September 3, 2026. She was the daughter of John Carter and Opal Jacobs.

She was a devote member of Alexandria Church of God who played the piano for services. She also taught Sunday school there. Robin enjoyed spending time with her loving family as much as she could.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother; Timmy Carter.

She is survived by her loving husband Charles Wallace and children; Aundrea (Brad) Fischer, Amanda (Travis) Hollman, Jasmine (Clint) Pennington, Alison (Les) Courtney, Charlie (Corey) Becraft. Siblings; Vicky Sawyers, Donna Perry, Ray Carter, Mark Carter, John Carter Jr, Kenney Carter, Terry Carter. Along with 7 grandchildren.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Alexandria Church of God. Service will begin at 2pm. Officiating will be Reverand Jamey Horton. Burial will be private to the family.

Shirley Sue Hounshell, 81, of Newport, KY, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 1, 2026. Shirley was born on December 10, 1944, in Breathitt County, Jackson, KY to her parents Frank and Emma (Watson) Miller.

She worked many years as a Nurse’s Assistant at the Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport, KY. She was a faithful member of the Full Gospel House of Refuge. Shirley loved being with her family and especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 58 years Letch Hounshell and twin girls Barbara and Brenda.
She will leave a loving legacy behind with her family, sons; Reverend Eddie (Kristi) Hounshell Sr., Letch (Brenda) Hounshell Jr., Frank Hounshell, brothers Mackie (Kay) Miller, Frank (Mary)Miller and sister Connie Miller. 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren and her faithful loving pup Leroy.

Visitation will be held on Friday September 4, 2026, at Cooper Funeral Home from 5:00 pm – 8:00pm. Service will begin at 8:00pm with Rev. Eddie Hounshell Sr conducting the service, an additional visitation will be held at Deaton Funeral Home in Jackson, KY from 10:00 -12:00pm on Saturday September 5, 2026. Following the visitation, she will be laid to rest next to her husband Letch Hounshell at Gilbert Cemetery.

Marjorie Ann Rose, 66, of Alexandria, KY passed away on September 1, 2026. She was born on December 10, 1959, to her parents Michael and Marjorie (Norman) Keeney.

Marjorie was dedicated mother, grandma and great grandmother. She lovingly raised and babysat her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed country music and loved watching her lifetime channel movies. She loved her Friday night dinners with her daughter Tammy (Tamara) and her loving husband Jim.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Tony Keeney, daughter Tiffany Rose and brother Charlie Keeney.

She leaves behind her husband Jim Rose. Children; Tammy (Tamara) Keeney and Chauncey Watkins. Siblings; Jimmy Keeney, Jeff Keeney and Tammy (Ron Loveless) Keeney. Grandchildren; Anthony, Harmony, Shaun, McKenzie, Kenny, Landon, Raven, Alyssa, Zach, CJ, Bella, Kaiser and Camron. Great Grandchildren; Eastyn, Liam, Myles, Brady and Brixton.

Jacqueline G. “Jackie” nee Beazley Pelgen, 85, of Cold Spring, KY, went home to be with the Lord on August 31, 2026. She was born on November 24, 1940, to her parents, Joseph and Ethel Mildred (Adams) Beazley.

Jackie was a devoted mother and a faithful member of St. Joseph Church in Cold Spring for 63 years. She was a talented hairdresser for more than 60 years and proudly owned Jackie’s Beauty Salon in Highland Heights for many years before eventually moving her salon into her home. Jackie truly loved her clients, many of whom remained with her throughout her entire career. She was known for her kindness and generosity and was famously one to never raise her prices.

Always active in her community, Jackie was involved with the St. Joseph Senior Club and served as past president of the Newport Central Catholic Mothers Club. She was also a past member of Job’s Daughters and the Order of the Eastern Star. Jackie enjoyed organizing monthly lunches with the Newport High School Class of 1958, helping keep lifelong friendships alive.

Jackie had a special way of going above and beyond anything expected of her, always adding her own personal touch and doing everything with love and care. A talented seamstress, she spent the past several years making memorial bears for families, creating treasured keepsakes during difficult times. She also made countless birthday cakes throughout the years and never turned away anyone who asked.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 63 years, James Robert Pelgen Sr.in 2025; her sister, Betty Jo Kruger; and her brother, Joseph “Sonny” Beazley.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Cheryl (Jay) Withrow, Candy Houston, Rhonda (Paul) Guidugli, James (Betty) Pelgen Jr., and David (Angela) Pelgen; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Cooper Funeral Home in Alexandria on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Service will begin at 2:00pm. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cold Spring, KY.

John Fitzgerald Young, 61, of Walton, KY, passed away suddenly on August 20, 2026. He was born on October 9, 1964, to Ester & Elvie (Elkins) Young. John worked many years as a painter and helped his son remodel houses; he loved all kinds of music including playing his guitar and enjoying a smoke. He cherished spending as much time with his family and grandchildren as he could.
He also leaves behind his sweet pug named branch, who loved him unconditionally.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kimberly Lynn Young, and a brother Jessie Young.

He is survived by his daughter Amanda Young and son Chance (Heather) Young, and brother Jeff Young. Grandchildren; Darian Fletcher, Paige Fletcher, Clifford Smith, Nolan Lanham, Hannah Lanham and Harper Young.
