Alger Duane Marsden, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went to be with the Lord on August 25, 2026, at the age of 91.

Alger was born on May 28, 1935 to the late Florence and Margaret (nee; Harsen) Marsden. Alger graduated from Algonac high School in 1954. He married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Lozen on January 5, 1957. Together, they shared almost 70 years of marriage and built a life filled with family, love, and memories.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four and a half years. Following his military service, Alger dedicated 35 years of his life to serving his community through his work at the Algonac Post Office.

He was a devoted father to his two daughters, Dawn (Tom) Kreusel and Vicki (Tony) Mauk. He was a proud grandfather to Joey and Nikki Kreusel and Stevie Mauk.

Alger will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country and community, the many years he shared with those he loved and his laugh. His life touched many people, and his memory will live on through his wife, daughters, grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Sara “Vicki” Wawrzyniak of Port Huron passed away on August 21, 2026, at the age of 84. She was born in Detroit on July 24, 1942, to the late Harry and Marie Fetters.

Sara was a talented and creative artist who enjoyed many different forms of art, including painting, sculpture, and woodcrafting. She had a love for dancing and traveling and especially enjoyed spending time with her beloved dog, Winston. She had a sweet tooth and never turned down a good dessert. Vicki also loved keeping up with the news and could often be found watching Fox News. Above all, she cherished her family and treasured the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.

Sara is survived by her children, Anne (Greg) McArdle, Teresa (Joseph) Novosel, and Christine (Joe) Kremer; grandchildren, Brady McArdle, Paige McArdle, Jon Robert Novosel, and Nicholas Rzeppa; and sister-in-law, Sharon Fetters.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jon E. Manos; her second husband, Robert Allen Wawrzyniak; and her brother, Paul Fetters.

Entombment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.

Andrew J. "Andy" Ptak, age 82, of Cottrellville Twp., formerly of Hamtramck, passed away August 15, 2026. He was born November 29, 1943 in Detroit to the late John and Angeline Ptak.
He married Mary Ann Goralski on May 11, 1968. She preceded him in death on August 16, 1999.
He retired from the City of Hamtramck after many years of service.

Andy was a man of strong faith and said daily prayers for his family and friends.
He was an avid scratch off lottery card player and was always up for a trip to the casino with family and friends. He also enjoyed his time spent bird watching.
Most of all he cherished his time spent with his granddaughters who he adored.

He is survived by his daughter; Kimberly (Michael) Aitken, his granddaughters; Makayla Balduck and Angelina Balduck.
He is also survived by his sister; Joyce Bujak, his brother; Kenneth Ptak, brother in-law; Richard Quenneville, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sisters; Priscilla Quenneville and Nancy McClester and brother; John Ptak.

Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 20 at Our Lady on the River Parish, St. Catherine Catholic Church, Algonac. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Gilbert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Algonac and at church from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. prior to mass. Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening in the funeral home.

James Nicholas Alfano age 83 of East China, MI passed away August 10, 2026 in the McLaren Macomb Hospital. He was born September 18,1942 in Wyandotte, MI to the late James V. and Matilda (nee Lafko) Alfano.

Mr. Alfano was US Marine Corp Veteran.

Mr. Alfano is survived by his cousins George (Paula) Burgess, Maria Johnson, Lisa (Kevin) Haggerty, Catherine (Gerald) Mayhew, Antionette (the late Joe) Hrudka, Judy (John) Mihalov, and Anthony (the late Jayne) Alfano.

Dulcie Mae Polito age 62, of Clay Twp., MI passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family August 5, 2026. She was born October 22, 1963 qin Gainesville, OH to the late Darrel and Alfreda (Krohn) Schram. She married Charles Benjamin “Chuck” Polito on July 10, 1982 in Algonac, MI. He passed away August 24, 2024.

Dulcie enjoyed spending time with family, hunting with her husband, gardening, and crafts.

Mrs. Polito is survived by her sons Joe (Holly) Polito and Chuck (Laura) Polito, grandchildren Joey, Addie, Maxx and Vive, brother Jim (Natalie) Howard, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Violet “Sue” Abel age 91 of Clay Twp., MI passed away August 2, 2026 in her home. She was born January 29, 1935 in Detroit, MI to the late Walter and Phyllis (Cmleleski) Grabowski. She married Bruce A. Abel on May 10, 1985 in Marine City, MI. He passed away February 26, 2011.

Sue was a member of the Our Lady on the River St. Catherines Catholic Church, Algonac and a longtime member the St. Catherines Lady Guild. She enjoyed cooking and baking desserts for different area restaurants. She also enjoyed watching TV and playing cards.

Mrs. Abel is survived by her daughters Debra Emch, and Patricia (Patrick) Macy, siblings Walter Grabowski, Thomas (Christine) Grabowski, and Linda (Phil) Wilkins, grandchildren Michael (Lisa Tacconelli) Casper, Wesley Waters, Kristina (Chuck) Krantz, Jennifer Thompson, Amber Waters, Andrea Cleveland, and Nicholas Waters, great grandchildren Brianna Smith, Hayleigh Krantz, Seth Waters, Brooklyn Thompson, Ryatt Waters, Caleb Peck, King Turner, Sophia Cleveland, and Nora Cleveland, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sons Ronald Waters, Thomas Waters, and Lawrence Waters, granddaughter Kayla Wiensch, siblings Patricia Studard, and William Teubert, and a son-In-law Douglas Emch.

A memorial funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM, with visitation from 10:30 to 11:00 AM, Friday August 14, 2026 in the Our Lady on the River Parish St. Catherines Catholic Church, Algonac, MI.

Patrick Lee Lomasney, age 87, of Chesterfield, peacefully went to be with the Lord on August 2, 2026 surrounded by family. He was born in Detroit on November 8, 1938 to the late Leo and Edithe Lomasney. Pat proudly served his country for 6 years in the United States Navy. He married Regina Naebers on April 27, 1963. Pat was a dedicated employee for Chrysler for 36 years. He was a man of faith who was proud to be a contributor in his community, Pat was a scoutmaster, member of Knights of St. John, Knights of Columbus- Council 856. He was a longtime ushers club President at St. Thecla, and later becoming an active member at St. Catherines, Algonac. Pat was a trains enthusiast, from model railroads, to watching, taking pictures, and tracking trains in person. He was fascinated on the story behind trains and where they were heading. He volunteered countless hours at the Michigan Transit Museum. Above all, Pat cherished the time he spent with his family. He was avid outdoorsman, who found peace in being in nature. Some of his greatest moments in life were camping trips with his family. Pat was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a man who led by example, and always enjoyed a sweet treat. His generous soul will be missed by all who knew him.

Laurie Bess Glied (née Studley), born November 6, 1934, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026.

Laurie lived an amazing life filled with love, laughter, family, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. One of her greatest joys was attending their sporting events, musicals, dance recitals, and any activity they were involved in. She was always their biggest supporter. She also loved cheering on the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers and rarely missed an opportunity to watch them play.
Laurie is lovingly survived by her daughters, Barbara Bischoff, Laurie Bischoff, and Jeanette (Tom) Radcliffe; her grandchildren, Grayson (Kerry), David (Jamie), Kelly (Zach), Janelle (Dave), Michael (Layli), and Shane (Gina); her siblings, George, Larry, and Tish; her beloved four-legged companion, Kohl; along with many cherished great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, the good daughter Lesley, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herb; her daughter, Kathy; her grandson, Scottie; and her sister, Ada.

Joseph Anthony Campis age 86 of Algonac, MI passed away July 28, 2026 in the Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. He was born July 27, 1940 in Detroit, MI to the late John and Mary (Tombrella) Campis. He married Sharon Marie Burguron on September 30, 1967 in Detroit.

Joseph retired from Chrysler Corp in 1996 after 30 years of service. He loved spending time with his grand and great grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling and doing crossword puzzles. He loved going out and socializing with anyone and everyone-he was a real people person.

Mr. Campis is survived by his wife Sharon, children Stacy Rappa, Annette (Gawain) Torres, David (Cheri) Campis, and Darrin Campis, grandchildren Michael Still, Zachary Still. Vincent Bernard "Bernie" Ohlert III age 60 of Casco, MI passed away July 12, 2026 in his home. He was born July 17, 1965 in Detroit, MI to the late Vincent B. II and Veronica S. (Libka) Ohlert.

Bernie grew up in Warren, MI and graduated from Cousino High School in 1983. He enjoyed classic sports cars and working on vintage outboard motors. In the late 1980’s he started doing heating and cooling as an installer and then partnered, with his brother Mike, in their company Astro Heating and Cooling.

Bernie is survived by his brother Michael (Amy) Ohlert, sister Cheryl Kopp, nieces and nephews Jade (Brent) Ohlert-Lazzarino, Justin Kopp, Julia Kopp, Daniel Kopp, Korben Mead, and Genevive Mead., and great niece Sawyer Lazzarino.
