💙 Serving Wilmington with Compassionate Care

On April 12, 2026, the Tzu Chi Health Center in Wilmington hosted a free medical outreach event for the local community, including many Hispanic residents.

Services included 🦷 dental care, 👁️ vision care, 🩺 internal medicine, 🌱 traditional Chinese medicine, and ✂️ free haircuts, helping make healthcare more accessible with dignity and kindness.

One patient shared that after not seeing a dentist for a long time, they finally felt relief and improvement in their oral health. Moments like these remind us why community outreach matters.

💙 A Story of Resilience, Hope, and Compassion 💙

We were honored to be part of the Health Consortium of San Gabriel Valley, joining partners at the 2026 SGV Health Summit: Preserving Access and Equity to uplift voices from the community on April 20.

This year, we were proud to have Connie Storey as a speaker: someone whose journey reflects the heart of compassionate care.

We first met Connie while providing vision services at Foothills Kitchen. What began as a simple encounter became a powerful reminder of connection. Years earlier, after losing her home in the Station Fire, Connie had received support from Tzu Chi: care that brought not only relief, but hope during one of the most difficult times in her life.

Through years of unimaginable challenges, from multiple hurricanes to wildfires, Connie’s story is one of resilience. When disaster struck again in 2025, she found the strength to support her family and give back by volunteering in her community, where our paths crossed once more.

Her words remind us: compassion can meet someone at their lowest point and help them find their strength again.

At Tzu Chi Medical Foundation, we are grateful to walk alongside individuals like Connie: serving not just with care, but with humanity, dignity, and hope. 🌿✨

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month: a time to raise awareness, support families, and strengthen communities. 💙

On April 18, the Eastside Child Abuse Prevention Council (ECAPC) kicked off a series of events with Children’s Vision Day, and we’re honored that we could support this meaningful effort.

Hosted at SPIRITT Family Services, the event provided vision care to individuals and delivered glasses to children in need. Many families had multiple children who required care, highlighting just how critical accessible services like these are.

The smiles said it all. 😊 Parents shared heartfelt gratitude, including one father who had struggled to find care for his child after being turned away from multiple clinics. This event gave his family renewed hope and a full-circle moment, as he once participated in SPIRITT programs years ago.

Beyond the care provided, children enjoyed a warm, welcoming space that made them feel comfortable and excited to return. ECAPC and SPIRITT also shared resources and promoted upcoming events, including a parent workshop on April 30.

Thank you to ECAPC and SPIRITT for your dedication, compassion, and thoughtful planning. Together, we’re making a difference: one child, one family at a time. 💫
