In 1947 equipped with a strong no nonsense work ethic, community awareness and pride, as well as, a strong aptitude for business, James Boyd Lavender and Susie Mae Watson Lavender had a vision for all Pickens County, AL residents to be offered the finest provisions in funeral service. It is out of this vision that on 601 Columbus Road, Aliceville, AL, Royal Funeral Home was established. Royal Fu
neral Home provided superior service to thousands of Alabama and Mississippi families during its forty (40) years of operation. Lavender saw a need to offer the community a newer facility in order to meet the need of the growing community, and to continue an outstanding legacy of dignified and excellence in funeral service. The fruit of their dedication resulted in Lavender’s Funeral Service and Lola’s Flower Shop, which is located on Highway 17 South Aliceville, AL. After the sorrowful passing of the late Warren E. Lavender in July of 2011, the day to day operations were taken over by his daughter Belinda Lavender Windham, the 3rd generation of excellence in funeral service. Today, Lavender’s Funeral Service continues to serve East Mississippi and West Alabama as a 3rd generation family owned business with excellence in pre-need services, at need services, traditional and non-traditional services, cremation, monuments and vaults, and engaging or citizens with community involvement and betterment.
