Catching the signs of Torticollis early can make a huge difference in successful treatment!🤔👶 Every baby develops at their own pace, but there are several signs parents can watch for, including:

🚼️Consistently tilting or turning their head toward one side

🚼️Difficulty turning their head equally in both directions

🚼️Strongly preferring one side during feeding, holding, or play

🚼️Difficulty tolerating tummy time

🚼️Developing a flat spot or uneven shape on the head

🚼️Showing differences in movement or strength from one side to the other

We are so excited to welcome Miss Shailyn to our OT team! 👏🎉 Shailyn earned her doctorate degree at Chatham University and her bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy from Slippery Rock University. 🎓️ She has worked with individuals with IDD for over 10 years. Shailyn loves working with kiddos that have sensory and feeding differences, as she does too! 🥰 She also enjoys working on fine motor skills and emotional regulation. ✂️😮‍💨 Outside of work, she is very busy with her kiddos at home but loves to play brain teaser/ puzzle games and snuggle up with her family on the couch. 💓

If you’ve been in one of our PT gyms, you may have seen the big white cage and wondered: ‘what could that be used for?’ 🤔💭 The answer is a lot more than you think! 🤩 The Universal Exercise Unit, or UEU, is a powerful tool employed by our physical and occupational therapists to help children reach their developmental goals. Being that this equipment is fully customizable using different accessories like ropes, pulleys and straps, our therapists are able to tailor treatment specifically to each child’s needs. This special tool allows kids to work on skills like weight-bearing, balance, strength and coordination with varying levels of support or resistance to meet their needs. 💪 While most often used in our intensive strength clinic, the UEU can benefit a wide variety of children. 🥰

October is PT Month and there is so much to celebrate! 🤩 Our incredible team: Miss Ellen, Miss Kate, Miss Alexis, and Miss Emily work hard with their kids in each and every session to help them reach goals in areas like strength, coordination, balance and so much more. 💪 The work that they do changes the lives of our patients and their families, making things that once seemed out of reach possible. 🥰⁠
We are so grateful to have these real-life superheroes on our team and to be able to bring their unique skills and knowledge to the families who need them!⁠
