Just popping into your Saturday morning with a few friendly faces. 👋

Whatever your weekend looks like, don’t underestimate the value of having people you can call when you need them. Keep those people close. Use the support you have.

And if you need more support, Laguna is here. 💜

Yesterday, we talked about “pink cocaine” and why appearance tells you very little about what a substance actually contains.

Today, on Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day, the same point is worth making about counterfeit pills.

A pill can look exactly like a prescription medication and contain illicitly manufactured fentanyl. You can’t tell by looking.

That’s a risk more people need to understand.

During Overdose Awareness Month, we’re talking about the substances showing up in today’s drug supply and why names, colors, and labels don’t always tell the full story.

“Pink cocaine,” or Tusi, is one example of how unpredictable the drug supply has become. What someone thinks they’re taking may not match what’s actually in the product.

Toshi says he’s still a little blown away that he gets to do this for a living.

He’s one of our therapists at Laguna Treatment Center, and what he loves most is getting to work with people who are ready to make changes in their lives—and getting to play some small part in that.

He also doesn’t take for granted how much the work pushes him to grow, too.

Maybe that’s why, for Toshi, it still doesn’t really feel like work.

Can couples go to rehab together?

At Laguna Treatment Center, sometimes they can.

For some couples, entering treatment at the same time can be a good option. For others, going separately may make more sense. It really depends on the relationship and what each person needs.

For National Couples Day, we wanted to share an option people may not realize is available at Laguna.

Couples treatment is considered on a case-by-case basis.

What’s the difference between inpatient and outpatient rehab, and which one might be right for you?

Keisha, AAC’s Sr. Director of Outpatient Operations, explains when someone may need the 24/7 support of inpatient treatment and when outpatient care may make more sense.

And outpatient doesn’t always mean going somewhere for treatment. Laguna Treatment Center now offers virtual IOP, allowing eligible California residents to participate in intensive outpatient treatment from home.

For National Relaxation Day, we’re giving you one whole minute where nobody needs anything from you.

No lesson. No list of things you should be doing for yourself.

Just watch the water for a bit. 🌊

Would you know what to do if someone was overdosing?

Even with more awareness around overdose, some dangerous misconceptions are still out there, and believing them can waste critical time when someone needs help.

We’re breaking down five overdose myths worth knowing.

Save this. Share it. Make sure the people around you know it, too.

More on what to do if you suspect an overdose in the first comment.

There’s a new face at Laguna! 👋 Please help us welcome Hayden Kegans, our new Case Manager and Group Facilitator.

Hayden is part of our Chronic Relapse Team. He’s had a lot of different roles in his life, but says none felt as fulfilling as the work he’s doing now. He came into the field because he wanted to give back to a community he’s an active part of.

“I am grateful to be a part of another’s journey to find a life worth living.”

Outside of Laguna, Hayden is an avid outdoorsman. Give him the ocean, desert, or mountains and he’s happy.

Welcome to Laguna, Hayden!

Meet our August Rockstar of the Month: Pedro! 🌟

Pedro brings a calm, positive energy to work every day, along with a strong work ethic and a genuine care for both our patients and his coworkers. Recovery is personal to him, and he hopes his own journey can help others who are finding their way through addiction.

Outside of work, there’s a lot to know about Pedro. He played soccer for eight years (and just signed up for team tryouts ⚽), loves the beach, boxes, and apparently gives some pretty great soccer commentary. 🎙️ He’s also one of eight siblings, wants to learn guitar, and counts Madrid as his favorite trip.

But his biggest news? Pedro recently became a dad to baby Luca. ❤️

Congratulations, Pedro! We’re lucky to have you on the team and very happy to celebrate you as our August Rockstar of the Month. 🎉
