That feeling when you walk out of the IVF center with full medical clearance and you're officially cleared to move forward in your surrogacy journey. This is one of those milestones that makes everything feel real, and it's a moment every surrogate remembers.

So many of our surrogates are working through this part of their journey right now, focused on things like BMI and getting through round after round of blood draws and screenings. We see how much effort goes into this stage, and we are so proud of every one of you.

For four years now, Amy Benes has been one of the steady hearts behind West Coast Surrogacy. With a Master's in mental health counseling and over a decade in the surrogacy world, she brings so much empathy, calm, and care to every single journey she's part of.

After moving to California from Washington State, Amy found a community that felt like home and never looked back. As our Senior Case Manager, she's known for her thoughtful planning, clear communication, and the kind of steady presence that makes surrogates and intended parents feel truly supported.

In gestational surrogacy, the embryo is created using the intended parents' or donors' genetic material through IVF. The surrogate carries the pregnancy, but the baby is not genetically related to her.

📋 A review of your full OB/GYN and delivery history
🧠 A psychological evaluation to make sure you feel emotionally ready

Your husband said WHAT when you told him you wanted to carry a baby that wasn't his? 😂🤍

Mine said "go for it, I don't care."

And I thought: okay, easy. He's on board.

Little did either of us know how much this journey would change him too.

Because here's the thing about surrogacy that nobody really talks about. It doesn't just move the surrogate. It moves everyone around her. The partners who said "sure, why not" and ended up doing everything in his power to help on delivery day. The families who went in casually and came out forever changed.

My husband went in thinking he wouldn't be that affected.
And then he watched a family, one we had grown so close to, hold their baby for the first time after years of struggle. Years of hoping. Years of wondering if it would ever happen for them.

He cared.
