Keith Hartley Yetzke
June 24, 1953 - August 21, 2026

Keith Hartley Yetzke, 73, of Pullman, Michigan passed away August 21, 2026. He was born in Coloma, Michigan June 24, 1953, the son of Edward and Lucille (Miney) Yetzke.

He lived in St. Joseph, Michigan until his family moved to Pullman when he was 16. He graduated from Fennville High School in 1971. He was employed at Chris Craft and Tiara Yachts before he opened his own shop where he fabricated, designed and repaired fiberglass products. Keith loved the outdoors and loved his home in the woods. He was always working on or building something new for the house and yard. Keith was an avid hunter, fisherman and boater but his greatest joy in life was his family.

Keith is survived by his wife of 37 years, Karla (Borgert) Yetzke, son Shane (Katrina) Yetzke, Pullman; grandson, Corey Yetzke (Sabine), Zeeland; grandson, Hunter (Nadia) Yetzke, Allegan and his great-grandson, Micah Yetzke, Allegan. He is also survived by his brother Edward (Delores) Yetzke, Stevensville; brother John (Marge) Yetzke, Watervliet; Timothy Yetzke, Ohio; brother-in-law Jeff Haas, Plainwell; and by many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Patrick Yetzke; niece, Heather Metz; father-in-law Roger Borgert; mother-in-law Constance Borgert; sister-in-law, Christine (Jeff) Haas; sister-in-law, Kimalee Borgert; and brother-in-law, Dean Borgert.

Per Keith’s wishes there will be no formal funeral service.

Undoubtedly one of the biggest annual events in our area. This year’s Allegan County Fair includes rodeos, livestock shows, a demolition derby, and a full range of carnival rides. And, of course, lots of food. There’s also national-level concert acts performing in the grandstand area of the 115-acre fairgrounds property. Christine "Chris" Ann (Cosgrove)
October 25, 1951 - August 22, 2026 (Age 74)

Christine “Chris” Ann (Cosgrove) Jurkas passed on August 22, 2026, with family by her side. Chris was born to her late parents Kermit and Bernice (Beagle) Cosgrove on October 25, 1951, in Allegan, Michigan. She married Donald Jurkas and shared over 50 years of marriage.

Chris’s funeral will start at 12:00 PM on Thursday, August 27, 2026, with two-hours visitation before from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Allegan United Methodist Church, 409 Trowbridge Street, Allegan, MI 49010. Cremation to follow with no graveside service.

Barry Allen Gorham
November 15, 1953 - July 29, 2026

Barry Allen Gorham, 72, of Dowagiac, MI passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at Ely Manor Nursing Home in Allegan, MI. Born November 15, 1953, he was the son of the late Walter Junior Gorham and Marguerite Ann (Baldwin) Gorham. He was the husband of the late Wanda Borden-Gorham. He was also preceded in death by his sister Karla Gorham.

Barry was an over the road truck driver for many years prior to retirement. He loved seeing the world through his windshield and experiencing new places through his travels. Barry had also previously worked as a mechanic. He spent many hours on his ’68 Chevelle. Barry thoroughly enjoyed racing it. He was able to run 107 in a quarter of a mile at the drag strip, would run 11.87 seconds. Not only did he work on cars but also enjoyed watching them being destroyed at the demolition derby. Barry also loved spending time with his family. Camping trips to Nicholas Lake were a particular favorite in his younger years.

Barry is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Byrd; siblings, Ward Gorham, Sandra Smith, Yvonne Kohler and Melanie Rice; grandchildren, Ethan McNees and Hailey McNees; as well as nephews Tyler Kohler, Cole Rice, and Clay Rice.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life is being planned for a later date. Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, is assisting with arrangements.

Angel Marie Curtis
September 19, 1995 - August 22, 2026 (Age 30)

In Loving Memory of Angel Marie Curtis
Angel Marie Curtis, age 30, of Michigan, began her journey to the Spirit World unexpectedly on Saturday August 22nd, 2026.

Angel was born on September 19th, 1995, in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Yebishawn Oldshield and Andy Curtis. She was a proud citizen of the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi and a member to the Wolf Clan. Her beautiful Spirit name Minwaywaygiszhiq , meaning “Dancing Sky Women” reflected the beauty and spirit she carried throughout her life.

Angel was a bright light and a gentle friend to all who had the honor of knowing her. Her presence brought warmth, laughter, and a sense of joy to those around her. Above all else, Angel loved being a mother. Her son, Ai-Kee’ Marr II, was the center of her world, and the love she had for him will continue to live on through him.

Angel was also known for her unmistakable sense of style. Whether it was her shoes, clothes, accessories, or hair, she had a way of making every look uniquely her own. She was never afraid to stand apart, express herself, and look amazing while doing it. She could spend hours shopping, searching for the next bold, loud outfit or style that would perfectly reflect her personality.

Angel also carried an adventurous spirit. She loved traveling and experiencing new places, journeying across the United States whenever she had the opportunity. She embraces life with curiosity and a willingness to see what was beyond the next horizon.

Though her time here was far too short, Angel leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, individuality, motherhood, friendship, and family. Her memory will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. We will think of her when we feel the wind upon our faces, when we see the trees of the forest move and dance, and in the beauty of the world around us. Her spirit is with us, and her love will never leave us.

Angel is survived by her parents, Yebishawn Oldshield and Andy Curtis; son, Ai-Kee’ Marr II; siblings, Autumn Curtis, April Curtis, George (Autumn Orlando) Webber, Alyssa Oldshield, Louis McGillis, Alana Curtis, Amber Webber, Ashley Webber, and Brittany Webber; niece, Zeegwun Caldwell; nephews Zhabwate Caldewell, Giizhigaate Webber, Jacob Jackson, J’Sean Spencer, and Emiliano Doniaz; grandmothers, Angeline Francisco and Linda Deloof; along with many extended family members, relatives, friends, and community members who will forever cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather’s Philip Francisco, Elliot Curtis and Butch Old Shield.

Alejo Martinez
July 20, 1936 - August 17, 2026

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Alejo Martinez, 90 of Fennville, Michigan. He passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 17, 2026 surrounded by family. Born July 20, 1936 in Matehuala, Mexico. Alejo was one of nine children born to the late Roman Martinez and Alejandra (Garcia) Martinez.

Alejo was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was the strength and foundation of his family. He enjoyed walking on his ranch and loved being outdoors and taking photographs of nature. Alejo also enjoyed fishing, hunting and music. Most of all he enjoyed our large family gatherings.

Alejo was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Calletana Martinez, who passed away in 2023. He is survived by his six children, Alejo Jr. (Marcelina) Martinez, Donna Martinez, Roman Martinez II, Juan Jose Martinez, Maria Martinez, and Marisela (Chris) Wabeke; sibling, Jose Martinez; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.

Along with his wife, Alejo was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Alejandra; brothers, Jesus Martinez, Lorenzo Martinez, Guillermo Martinez; and sisters, Santiaga (Martinez) Almanza, Maria De La Paz (Martinez) Hernandez, Maria De Los Angeles (Martinez) Rodriguez and Ignacia Martinez.

Family and friends will gather at St Peter's Catholic Church, 100 Street Peters Drive Douglas, MI 49406 on Monday, August 24th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am for a visitation. Mass will start at 11:00 am and a luncheon will be held at St Peter's Hall following the service.

Craig Scott Phillips
June 19, 1961 - August 16, 2026

Craig Scott Phillips, 65, of Allegan, MI passed away Sunday, August 16, 2026 at University of Michigan Health West Hospital. Born June 19, 1961 in Allegan, he was the son of the late William and Anne S. (McCloud) Phillips. Craig graduated from Allegan High School in 1979. After graduation he went on to become the owner of B&C Emporium where he made and sold oak furniture as well as bought and sold antique hardware.

Craig was an active member of the Allegan County Historical Society in which he displayed part of his antique tool collection in the woodshed in the John Pahl Historical Village at the Allegan County Fairgrounds. Craig was also part owner of the Regent Theater in Allegan.

Craig loved traveling the Midwest with his family doing the antique shows – Allegan, Sandwich, and Kane County, to name a few. Craig was also an active member of the Antique Doorknob Collectors of America, going to conventions where he would buy, sell and trade very unique pieces of antique hardware with other collectors.

Craig is survived by his long-time girlfriend and significant other of twenty-five years, Lori Ann Weems; her two sons, Justin and Matthew Salmon; grandchildren, Falynn TenBrink, Chase Salmon and Logan TenBrink; and Lori’s parents, Glen and Sandra Salmon. He was preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Anne S. Phillips.

𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺 𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗱𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸

Continuing in our series on local museums, we’re focusing this month on the History Museum at Mount Baldhead Park in Saugatuck. Housed in the historical Pump House and located on the west bank of the Kalamazoo River, the museum features an outdoor garden, riverfront walkway, and tons of interesting exhibits.

The museum’s main exhibit, “The Lure of Mount Baldhead,” explores Mount Baldhead’s history, natural formation, and cultural significance.

While you’re in the park, be sure to stop at the nearby Chain Ferry’s west landing. And if you’re up for a little cardio, take on the 303-step wooden staircase that takes you to the top of Mount Baldhead where you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the Kalamazoo River, Lake Michigan, and the surrounding landscape.

The History Museum at Mount Baldhead Park is open from Memorial Day through October annually (Wednesday through Sunday, 11:00 am-3:00 pm during the summer and Saturdays and Sundays, 12:00-4:00 pm during September and October). Parking and admission are free.

Dale Lynn (Brockman) Chamberlain
April 18, 1945 - August 9, 2026 (Age 81)

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Dale Lynn Chamberlain, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Dale passed away peacefully at her home in Fennville, Michigan, on August 9, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with illness.

Born on April 18, 1945, in Sparta, Wisconsin, to Lewis and Lucille Brockman, Dale was a beacon of kindness, resilience, and positivity. Dale grew up on her family's dairy farm where she spent most of her time caring for and riding her beloved horses. She graduated from Sparta High School in 1963. Dale furthered her education at Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa, where she earned a degree in Liberal Arts. Her education was not just a testament to her intelligence, but also to her commitment to personal growth and learning.

On March 4, 1967, Dale married the love of her life, Theodore Chamberlain III, in Sparta, Wisconsin. Together, they embarked on a lifelong journey that spanned 59 years, filled with love, laughter, and the joy of family. Their union was blessed with five children: Theodore IV, Heather, Andrew, Timothy, and Benjamin, and their spouses, who brought Dale immense joy and pride.

Dale's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family, who were her greatest achievement and joy. She found fulfillment in the everyday moments spent with her children and grandchildren, always ready with a warm smile and open arms. Dale's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent playing games, solving puzzles, and sharing her love of music with them.

A woman of deep faith, Dale was an active member of the Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, dedicating much of her life to full-time ministry. Her faith was a guiding light, shaping her into the compassionate and generous person that she was. Dale's positive outlook on life was contagious; she saw the good in everyone and gave selflessly to those around her.

Dale had a passion for music, delighting in playing the organ and piano, and she found great happiness in the simple pleasures of gardening and camping with her family. Her love of nature and music was a reflection of her vibrant spirit and zest for life.

Dale was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Lucille Brockman, her brothers, Louis and Charlie Brockman, and her sisters, Rosella Dobbs and Bonnie Hull. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Theodore Chamberlain, her children and their spouses: Ted and Niki Chamberlain, Heather and Randy Lozar, Andy and Lydia Chamberlain, Tim and Shannen Chamberlain, Ben and Kate Chamberlain; her cherished grandchildren: TJ Chamberlain, Drew and Jason Kirker, Nicholas Chamberlain, Zachary Chamberlain, Sadie and Steele Evans, Summer and Connor Grattan, Alyssa and Ben Pease, Phoenix Chamberlain, Sydney Chamberlain, and Landon Lozar; her treasured great-grandchildren: Ellie, Octavia, Kai, Ruthie, and Aspen; and her nephew, Chad and Judy Brockman, and their daughter Bridget.

A memorial service to celebrate Dale's life will be held on September 19, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 2199 Taft Rd., Allegan, MI 49010.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care and professionalism, as well as to the many friends and family members who provided support during this difficult time. Dale's legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will forever be cherished, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
