Most people think that all they have to do to have a good marriage is to find the right person.

Although you can't underestimate the importance of finding the right person who is compatible, with similar life vision and attraction, it's only step 1.

After finding the right person then the next focus becomes having the ideal celebration.

It's wedding season and people spend thousands on flowers, venue and decorations, but won't spend a few hundred dollars on preparing for their marriage - it's all about the wedding.

Then suddenly after the wedding, the fun and the honeymoon, it can start to fall apart if the couple hasn't learned the right marriage skills.

One of the ways to work on your marriage after the wedding and after the honeymoon, is to create meaningful connections by doing new activities together.

This weekend we decided to play pickle ball - one of our favorite activities. It's crucial to mix things up and make fun memories.

If you want more than just meeting the right person and having a beautiful wedding, then you need to learn the marriage skills.

The skills to correct someone without offending them.

The skill to deescalate a tense situation.

The skill to make your spouse feel more emotionally safe.

If you want to learn the skills to make your marriage a source of peace and happiness, write SKILLS. I'll share the skills I've taught my clients for the past 30 years and the ones I've used in my marriage if 30 years mashaAllah tabarakAllah.

One of the secrets to staying best friends for 30 years in marriage mashaAllah tabarakAllah is having a good sense of humor and being able to laugh at situations and laugh at ourselves.

Life is already serious and there are so many problems we face each and every day, so we need to lighten the mood with a little laughter.

Here my husband and I were posing for the picture and I told him an inside joke which made us both laugh.

When making a joke you have to make sure you don't offend your spouse. We are able to laugh about many things alhamdulillah because we have a strong self-esteem, we've made emotional deposits and we assume the best of each other alhamdulillah.

For the past 30 years I've dedicated my life to helping couples restore their marriages and learn to become better friends through marriage counseling and my 5 Pillars of Marriage program.

If you want more tips on improving your marriage write MARRIAGE and I'll send you a free PDF.

Find something to laugh about with your spouse today!

The more you laugh, the closer you will feel with one another.

P.S. A dear friend sent me a message today that said:
Laughter is an instant vacation!

Arafah Forgotten Duas For Emotional & Psychological Healing That Will Transform You, inshaAllah

Not all duas on Arafah are about asking for things.
Some of the most life changing duas are the ones we forget to make:

The duas that transform our character, soften our reactions, heal our ego, and make us wiser, calmer, more loving, and more emotionally safe.

Here are some forgotten duas for the person you’re becoming.

Duas For Healing
Ya Allah, heal my inner wounds.

Ya Allah, help me to overcome the emotional obstacles that stand in my way.

Ya Allah, allow my inner child to be nurtured and to finally let go of any pain

Ya Allah, provide me with the resources to do the inner work

Ya Allah, allow me to emerge from this day with a new found optimism for my life and my future

Duas For Relationships

Ya Allah, help me to have wisdom to know what to say, when to say it, how to say it and whom to say it to.

Ya Allah, give me maturity to respond to the challenges of life in a way that is pleasing to you.

Ya Allah, provide me the insight to be able to decipher between right and wrong.

Ya Allah, help to make my family feel emotionally safe in order to always have open communication.

Ya Allah, help us to assume the best of you and the best of others.

Ya Allah, protect our hearts from enmity, jealousy, or bitterness.

Ya Allah, help us to bring out the best in ourselves and in our loved one.

Dua For Emotional Stability

Ya Allah, help me to regulate my emotions so that I respond with mindfulness.

Ya Allah, give me the inner strength to overcome my shortcomings and stop overreacting.

Ya Allah, allow me to see each interaction in my life as a test and give me to ability to pass each test.

Ya Allah, make my peace and happiness be derived from my connection to you and not the behavior of others.

Ya Allah, help me to think before I speak, pray before I act and purify my intention before I take action.

Dua For Parenting

Ya Allah, help me to represent Islam in the most loving and amazing way to my children.

Ya Allah, let my behavior and character be the best forms of dawa for my children.

Ya Allah, let me instill hope and excitement for my children for Allah, not fear and hopelessness.

Ya Allah, surround us and our children with your awliya.

Ya Allah, let us motivate our children to excel and be ambitious for the akhira.

Ya Allah, let us accept our children and make them have high self-esteem so that they can be leaders.

Ya Allah, help us to be patient, flexible and understanding of our children’s issues.

Ya Allah, help us to pull our children towards Islam, not away from Islam.

Dua for Maturity

Ya Allah, give me the maturity to admit when I’m wrong.

Ya Allah, give me the maturity not to become defensive when I’m corrected.

Ya Allah, give me the maturity to take responsibility for my actions and not turn things around.

Ya Allah, give me the maturity to correct my actions willingly and happily.

Ya Allah, give me the maturity to know when to overlook and when to stand up for my rights.

Ya Allah, give me the maturity to know how to listen, not assume and give the benefit of the doubt.

Dua For Good Character
Ya Allah, allow me to treat others in a way that is pleasing to you.

Ya Allah, help us to emulate the Prophet (peace and salat upon him) in his speech, behavior and character.

Ya Allah, let our character be so impeccable that it will be the heaviest thing on our scales and will earn us Jannah.

Ya Allah, make our character be so beautiful that it will inspire others to improve.

Ya Allah, cleanse our hearts from any judgment, envy or bitterness that our characters will be like a shining, bright lighthouse for those who are searching for guidance.

Ya Allah, make our characters so pure that we can pe*****te the hearts of others and have a positive impact on them.

Make sure you share with your friends and family. Don't forget to write AMEEN!

How to manage your emotions

Are you feeling overwhelmed by anger, frustration, or sadness in your relationships or the world today? In this powerful talk, sister Haleh Banani explains how to transform destructive emotions into constructive actions using Islamic principles.
Drawing on 30 years of faith-based counseling, sister Haleh reminds us that emotions are not our enemies; they are vital pieces of information meant to guide us.
However, when we fail to regulate our emotions and simply react, we risk destroying our relationships and committing actions we may regret for decades.
By looking at the ultimate role model, Prophet Muhammad (2), we learn how to remain dignified, poised, and God-conscious even in the face of immense injustice, humiliation, and grief
sde, you will learn

"Name it to Tame it": A psychological technique to move emotions out of the reactive amygdala and into the logical prefrontal cortex, instantly calming your nervous system.

The 3 Steps to Emotional Intelligence:
Moraqaba (Mindfulness/Self-awareness): Understanding your triggers, healing childhood wounds, and deactivating the things that make you react.

Mujahada (Internal Struggle): The daily striving to lower your gaze, control your tongue, and fight your ego (nafs) rather than succumbing to desires.

Muhasabah (Daily Self-Evaluation): Holding yourself accountable at the end of each day and following up any bad deeds (like snapping at your children) with good deeds.

The Heaviest Deed on the Scale: Why your character-especially how you treat your spouse, children, and parents behind closed doors-will weigh heavier than extra prayers or fasting on the Day of Judgment.

Avoiding the "Sewage Water": Why you should never lower your standards to match the negative energy of disrespectful or difficult people.

Taming the Nafs: How to take the "remote control" away from Shaytan and train your ego to become a partner that pushes you toward good deeds and Jannah.

Wisdom is a gift from Allah that does not automatically come with age, education, or even Islamic knowledge. Watch this video to learn how to actively seek that wisdom, break generational patterns of dysfunction, and build a peaceful home.
