🐾❤️ Happy Veterinary Technician & Staff Appreciation Week! ❤️🐾

It's one of our favorite times of the year at Allendale Veterinary Hospital! While this week is nationally recognized as Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week, we proudly celebrate our entire support team for Staff Appreciation Week! 🎉

🚒🔥Air Quality Alert for Pets!🔥🚒

Smoke from the Canadian wildfires has created hazy skies and reduced air quality across our area.

Just like people, pets can be affected by poor air quality.

Consider:
• Keeping walks short and avoiding strenuous exercise.
• Bringing pets indoors as much as possible.
• Keeping windows closed and running air conditioning or an air purifier if available.
• Making sure fresh water is always available.

Watch for signs such as coughing, wheezing, difficulty breathing, excessive panting, eye irritation, or unusual lethargy. Pets with heart or lung disease, senior pets, puppies, kittens, and flat-faced breeds are especially at risk.

If your pet is showing respiratory distress or you're concerned about their breathing, contact us right away.

Stay safe, and let's all hope for clearer skies soon!

🐾 Happy National Kitten Day! 🐱💕

We are happy to celebrate the little furballs who fill our homes (and our hearts) with joy today and every day! Give your kitten an extra cuddle, share a favorite photo, and don't forget to support your local shelters and rescues.

Every kitten deserves a loving home. ❤️

🔥🔥It is getting HOT HOT HOT!🔥🔥

Friendly reminders for our furry friends and their families with this current heatwave--

✨If the pavement is too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws.✨

⏰Walk early or late.

💧Keep fresh water available.

🏠Stay indoors during peak heat.

🙅🚗Never leave pets in a parked car—not even for a minute.

🆘Excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse can all be signs of heatstroke, which is a medical emergency.

📞When in doubt, keep them cool and call your veterinarian immediately.

Help us keep our four-legged family members safe during this extreme heat!

Thank you💜

Fireworks season is almost here! 🎆🎇

🐾If your pet gets nervous during fireworks, thunderstorms, or loud celebrations, now is the time to plan ahead.

💊Anxiety medications or calming support may require an exam, refill approval, or time to find the safest option for your pet — and appointments can book quickly before July 4th!

✨Don’t wait until the holiday rush. Calling early can help make sure your pet has what they need before the celebrations begin.✨

This is also a great time to make sure your pet’s ID tags and microchip information are up to date.
