Yesterday was such a fun day at Lehigh Valley Zoo! 🦋🐾💙

We had a blast at the Bluey at the Zoo-ey event, but our favorite part was getting out into the community and connecting with so many amazing families! We saw some familiar faces as well which is always a “treat”! 🐶🩵

We loved meeting new faces, talking with families about their children’s healthcare needs, and introducing more of our community to Children’s HealthCare. We’re always excited to welcome new patients and be a part of your family’s healthcare journey! 💙

🚨 MEASLES IN THE LEHIGH VALLEY: WHAT PARENTS NEED TO KNOW 🚨

With measles cases now confirmed here in the Lehigh Valley, we want to make sure our families have the information they need to protect their children. ❤️

🦠 Why are we concerned about measles?Measles is one of the most contagious diseases in the world. It spreads through the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or even breathes. It can cause high fever, cough, runny nose, red/watery eyes, and a characteristic rash — and serious complications can occur, especially in young children.

💉 The good news: measles is preventable!
The MMR vaccine protects against measles, mumps, and rubella. The routine schedule is:
• 1st dose at 12 months
• 2nd dose at 4 years

BUT — with measles circulating in our area, there are circumstances where children can receive an MMR dose earlier.

👶 Children as young as 6 months can receive an early MMR dose when they are considered at increased risk, such as during a measles outbreak. This early dose does NOT replace the routine doses after the first birthday. Children who receive MMR before 12 months will still need two additional doses after their first birthday.

💡 Not sure if your child is protected? Now is a great time to check your child's immunization record. If your child is behind on MMR, or you're wondering whether an early dose is appropriate, please give our office a call.

💉 We have the MMR vaccine available at Children’s Healthcare and are happy to help you determine what is appropriate for your child based on their age, vaccination history, and current risk.

Protecting your child also helps protect babies who are too young to be routinely vaccinated and others who cannot receive the vaccine.

Being a teenager isn't always easy. Between school, sports, friendships, family, social media, and planning for the future, it can sometimes feel like there's a lot to carry.

💙 This week's Teen Talk: It's Okay to Ask for Help.

Everyone has tough days. Feeling stressed, overwhelmed, anxious, or sad doesn't make you weak—it makes you human. The important thing is knowing you don't have to face those feelings alone.

Here are a few reminders:
✔️ Talk to someone you trust—a parent, teacher, coach, counselor, or another caring adult.
✔️ Take breaks from social media when you need them.
✔️ Get enough sleep, stay active, and make time for things you enjoy.
✔️ Remember that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Parents: Keep the conversation open. Sometimes the simple question, "How are you really doing?" can make all the difference.
