August 12th Blood Drive at LVCIL: Please read and sign up below!

Thank you for what you do to support the mission of the American Red Cross. We are reaching out to you today with a request for help. For just the second time in our history, the Red Cross has issued a national blood crisis. Blood donations have fallen to a four-year summer low, worsening this summer’s emergency shortage.

The shortage comes during the height of trauma season, when hospitals frequently see increased demand for blood due to serious injuries and other medical emergencies. Without lifesaving blood, emergency rooms can't function; maternity wards can't operate; cancer patients must wait.

Donor promotion:
• Come to give blood in August for a $20 Amazon Gift Card by email. Terms: rcblood.org/August
• Presenting Donors will be entered into a raffle drawing for two (2) admission tickets to Dorney Park or a Six Flags theme park.

TYPE O PROMOTION: Type O donors are needed immediately to ensure lifesaving patient care is available. Come give in August and get a bonus $10 Amazon Gift Card^^ by email.

All blood types are needed, but the situation is especially dire for type O blood . The type O positive blood supply has fallen below a one-day supply. Blood and platelet donors are needed immediately to ensure hospitals have the blood they need for patients whose lives depend on transfusions.

HIGH NEED Power Red: https://www.redcrossblood.org/donate-blood/how-to-donate/types-of-blood-donations/power-red-donation.html
• Great way to help the Type O Blood Supply!
Power Red is similar to a whole blood donation, except a special machine is used to allow you to safely donate two units of red blood cells during one donation while returning your plasma and platelets to you

You can help the Red Cross overcome this shortage:
• Schedule your blood or platelet donation today using the Blood Donor App, by visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
• If you are a member of a local community organization, please consider sharing an email message with the group encouraging them to give now.
