Regulatory and Quality Measures Update for SNF Operational and Clinical Leadership – August 2026

The New Nursing Home Risk Based Survey Process – 10/8/26
Falls with Major Injury Q.M.
Psychotropic Meds Q.M.
This interactive fast paced session will review current structure and implementation of new survey guidance and Risk Based survey and two Quality Measures - Psychotropic Medications and Falls with Major Injury. Operational and Clinical Professionals along with Assessment teams will receive specific structural definitions and implementation guidance to manage these high-risk issues from one of the industry’s most qualified consultants. The session will include the most current CMS guidance and regulatory definitions for the survey changes. The Quality Measures will be discussed, identifying specific data changes as well as exclusion of cases and inclusion of claims data. Current IQIES manual reference will be discussed as well as changes in data calculating Quality Measure reports for Falls with Major Injury and Psychotropic Medication Use. Operational leadership and building administration must monitor and audit data transmissions. Case studies and audit processes will be reviewed. A must do session for the administrative team with active discussion – CMS resource documents and documentation tools included.

Objectives:

1) Identify the components of the Risk Based Survey process 10/8/26
2) Review the specific data and quality metrics facilities must address to be included in the RBS Survey Process
3) Describe the changes to the data and source of data used to calculate the Psychotropic Medication Use Quality Measure
4) Review the data definition changes and the source data changes to calculate the Falls with Major Injury Quality Measure
5) Identify steps senior operational and clinical managers can take to evaluate compliance with the data definition and data use changes communicated by CMS
