“You can trust that There is a purpose in your pain. You can trust that your trial will become your testimony your pain will become your platform and that your greatest ministry will be birthed out of your deepest misery because God is preparing you for what he’s prepared for you.”

~Josh Howerton

Just listened to this on a walk. Thanks Pastor Josh.

Did God choose Michal and I to walk through this cancer war?

I believe He must have. He knew before time began that Michal was going to go through this, and that I would be beside her in it.

Her greatest ministry we thought was her birth, adoption and stance for life. Yet this was her greatest misery, but God enabled her to walk through it to the very end with grace and mercy and faith.

I’m a witness to her resilience to overcome the fear and the disappointment and to just trust God.

Was she scared. Sure. Was she hopeful throughout, yes. Did doubt try to steal that hope, yes.

Yet in the end she fought that doubt with her stronger hope in God’s promises.

And God came through, for she is with him in Heavenly grandeur!

So many of you have attested to her impact in your lives! That’s no doubt her greatest ministry. The forever remembrance of her in our lives, and her gallant fight will encourage us forever.

Now my greatest ministry must be birthed out of this, my deepest misery.

Proof of worshipping in our midnight!!!

Also comes with homages to our beautiful Michal!

My beautiful daughter wore one of Michal’s skirts, pink of course.

Me? I assure you I didn’t purchase this pink shirt myself!

Michal is everywhere in our lives.

Sitting in the back deck sun room watching the storm with my totally whigged out dogs, Maizie and Sherman.

Thankful that, This is the day the Lord has made. Thankful that my dogs have been up since the storm started, thus so have I.

Praying and contemplating the goodness of God, since I’m up.

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
~ 1 THESSALONIANS 5:18

Wherever you are in life God is there with you and wanting to draw you to him through it.

Be drawn to his glory!!!

Sit here long enough and God provides the special blessing of cuddling with your grand daughter!!!

One month since Michal went home to the Lord. I look pretty tired…

Michal had FOMO big time in regards to the grandkids.

The grandkids are struggling, missing their Mimi. Of course they are.

I wonder how much more, in Heaven, do we get to understand our family and see their lives?

I just wonder. As far as I know there isn’t anything in the Bible about it, but still I wonder.

So I’m answering the questions to what did these looks by Michal convey to me.

Here they are:

What did she convey to me with these looks?

1.) “Oh, for the love! Brush your teeth!!!!”

2.) “David!!! You were supposed to get a small!!! Why do you always get the extra large!!!”

3.) “Babe… (super long sigh). You snored all night long…
I’m too tired to get out of bed.”

4.) “Babe, you have absolutely infected me with the weird gene!”

5.) “Were you surprised?!?! Did you know?!? I’m so proud of myself! I’m so proud of you!”

(My 40th surprise party)

I was clueless!

I know that doesn’t surprise y’all!

6.) “But I want an egg and mustard sandwich and then a chocolate sundae for breakfast!!! And you used all the mustard and chocolate!!!”

7.) “Oh for the love, There you are. Of course. Why doesn’t it surprise me?

Me: “What?!?!”

I was probably somewhere People weren’t allowed on this boat.

8.) “I told you those were for children. Now you have to buy it, cause you broke it!”

Me:”…but…but… I really wanted to see what the elephant hat looked like on my head?!? I thought it would stretch!”

9.) “David?!? Did you just fluff!?!!?!”

Me: “No…?”

10.) Me: “Let me take the picture again. I forgot to take the lens cover off.”

Michal: “Way to go babe!! I knew you’d figure it out!”

11.) Me: “I’m lost somewhere in your eyes babe.”

Michal: “If I could love you any more than I do right now, I would!”

THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE PICTURES OF MICHAL!!!!

In all the pictures her eyes were the window to her soul. They told you there was no condemnation, just love for whomever she was looking at. Maybe some concern, confusion, bewilderment or even disbelief, (especially in my case) but always there was love.

Look at the photos and tell me what Michal was thinking about me when she looked at me that way.

The many faces Michal made in my presence had much more to do with me than her!

But boy did they express her precious personality, despite the consternation I incited in her!

Our love grew over the years to the point that I didn’t doubt her love for me, despite the looks.

Marriage is a lesson in real love. Michal had real love. I learned it from her.

She learned it from Christ!

Comment what you think she was thinking about me in each of the photos.

Once there’s enough answers I’ll tell you what I think.

This is my video tribute to Michal.

I’ve always loved this melancholy song by Switchfoot.

Being that San Diego was our last trip together before Michal took her final trip home, I thought it was the perfect song to share how it feels when, although God is good, it doesn’t make sense in the grief.

“Tell me you are near.”

I need God to be near now!

My daughter-in-law recommended going to this program GriefShare at their church.

So I went.

Here’s the thing! Don’t limit yourself from opportunities to express your grief and be fed by others who can understand your grief.

Your grief has to go somewhere. You have to deal with it.

Along with this page, spending time with family, friends, being active, leading worship at my church, sharing with others and helping them with their struggles. GriefShare is yet another outlet to work out this grief that at times is overwhelming.
