📣 New Appointment Reminder System 📣

To help make appointment reminders more convenient, we are excited to introduce our new automated reminder system!

Here’s how it works:

📧 5 days before your appointment, you will receive an email reminder where you can confirm your appointment.

📱 If the appointment is not confirmed through email, you will receive a text reminder 3 days before your appointment with another option to confirm.

📞 If we still have not received confirmation, you will receive an automated phone call 2 days prior to your appointment, along with a personal call from our office the day before.

✅ If you confirm through either the first email or text reminder, you will not receive additional phone calls — only a same-day text reminder for your convenience.

We hope this new system helps make managing your appointments easier and more efficient!

As always we appreciate your patience as we navigate this new system.

We’re happy to announce two new ways we’re making your experience easier and more convenient!

📅 Online Scheduling is Now Available
You can now schedule appointments online anytime — day or night — right from the comfort of your home! The link is provided on our page at the top of the page and under the link section as well as on the google page and our website.

📲 New Appointment/Order Reminder System

To help keep appointments simple and stress-free, we’ve also launched a new automated reminder system that can send:
✔️ Text reminders
✔️ Email reminders
✔️ Automated phone calls

Along with this comes 2 way messaging. This way if you get a text from us, you can respond to the text and we will receive it and be able to respond back.

With that being said the phone number that comes up for this system will not be our actual number but we will get the responses.

Our goal is to make staying on top of your eye care easier than ever while improving communication and convenience for our patients.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT - Dr. LeAnn Burns

Optometrist / Owner - Up North Eye Care

Dr. LeAnn Burns began her higher education journey at Alpena Community College while working toward a Bachelor of Science and Arts degree pathway. Today she is the owner and optometrist at Up North Eye Care, serving patients across Northeast Michigan.

LeAnn credits ACC with helping her develop independence early in her educational journey.

“ACC helped grow my independence.”

As an optometrist, she says the profession involves far more than just vision prescriptions.

“Optometry isn’t just about prescriptions and disease - it’s about relationships. You’ll manage chronic conditions like glaucoma, diabetes, and dry eye. You’ll calm anxious patients and explain complex things in simple terms. If you enjoy science and connecting with people, you’ll thrive.”

March is Workplace Eye Wellness month! Remember to protect your eyes while on the job. Wear your protective eyewear and always inspect them to make sure they are fitting properly to avoid injury. You can visit us to get your prescription safety glasses or stop by if you need an adjustment!
