When I was fortunate enough to reach Congressman Tony Coelho, his account of his faith and actually standing up to Pope John Paul II with his belief that it was "unChristian" not to let epileptics become priests was a story in itself. I created another episode Because I didn't want that to get overlooked by his story of creating the Americans with Disabilities Act. This will be uplifting and inspiring!

There are times when it's exhausting to produce Epilepsy Gangster. Then things happen like this morning that keep me invigorated. Chifundo Petro, who I interviewed about the establishment of his foundation in Malawi (Africa) in S3/E5, told me that a church saw that episode, and donated enough to him to increase the number of epileptics he treated from 250 at the time of the show to 1,200 a year later! Those same donations allowed him to add 3 satellite clinics to the one he was operating, finish a dorm for the girls with epilepsy who were abandoned there thinking that they had contagious disease or were possessed by demons. And another viewer of the story bought a car for his foundation to use for its work. God bless those generous hearts and Chifundo's saintly heart. Thank you God that I'd be able to bring everyone together!

One of my heroes growing up was Congressman Tony Coelho, the House Majority Whip in the 1980's. This was because after the Navy denied me of an appointment to the Naval Academy I'd learned how his getting into politics was an alternative to the Catholic Church refusing to let him be a priest because his epilepsy was a sign of being possessed by demons! He just gave me an exclusive interview about that and how it motivated his sponsorship from the civil rights we enjoy today, the Americans with Disabilities Act.
