✨ What. A. Summer. ✨

This summer, Speech Therapy of Forsyth transformed into so many exciting worlds—from blasting off as astronauts exploring outer space 🚀 to becoming happy campers adventuring through the great outdoors 🏕️. Every week was filled with hands-on activities, creative play, and imaginative experiences designed to support speech, language, and social communication in meaningful ways.

We loved watching our summer groups grow together! 💛 Our Together Time group gave our youngest learners and their caregivers opportunities to connect through play while empowering parents with valuable communication strategies. Our Early Learners group built language through play, exploration, and friendships. And our Social Group came together to strengthen social communication, build confidence, and create lasting friendships through engaging activities.

The fun truly never ended, and we are so grateful to all of the amazing families who spent their summer with us. Thank you for making this season one to remember!

Here’s to a summer full of smiles, growth, and unforgettable memories—and now… it’s time to get ready for an incredible back-to-school season! 📚🍎✨

The SLP community is collectively trying to process the proposed changes to CPT code 92507... and yes, it feels a little dramatic right now. 😅
Whether you’ve been deep-diving into the updates or are just seeing the conversations pop up on your feed, you’re definitely not alone. Here’s to hoping for some clarity soon! 🫶

What an incredible evening! We loved bringing parents together to prepare for the new school year with practical tools, meaningful conversations, and a supportive community.

We discussed common back-to-school challenges, including transitions, new routines, schedule changes, and emotional regulation, while sharing simple, evidence-based strategies families can use to help children feel more confident and successful.

Parents also got hands-on by creating personalized visual schedules to use at home—not only for the school year, but for vacations, appointments, and any new routine or life transition. We wrapped up the night with a Back-to-School Kit filled with visual schedules, social stories, regulation strategies, “All About Me” information sheets, and other helpful resources to support success both at home and at school.

One of the most meaningful parts of the evening was watching parents connect, share experiences, encourage one another, and realize they’re not alone. Building a strong support network is just as important as the tools we provide.

Thank you to every family who joined us. We are so grateful to be part of your journey and are honored to support both parents and children every step of the way.

Here’s to a school year filled with confidence, connection, and growth. 💙📚🍎

✨ Summer Social Groups – Week 2 Recap ✨
Our groups had another week full of learning, connection, and fun!

🚗 Together Time: Connection Through Movement
Our youngest learners practiced communication through movement, play, songs, and interactive activities. We focused on building early language skills, turn-taking, joint attention, imitation, and social engagement while having fun together.

🌙 Early Learners: Summer Night
Early learners explored all things bedtime through stories, crafts, play, and sensory activities. We worked on following directions, discussing bedtime routines, answering questions, expanding vocabulary, and playing cooperatively with peers.

🤝 Social Group: Friendship
Our school-age students focused on friendship skills, including what it means to be a good friend, how to make new friends, starting and maintaining conversations, perspective-taking, teamwork, and problem-solving through engaging activities and discussions.
We can’t wait to see what Week 3 brings! ☀️💙

🌟 Parent Tip Wednesday: Early Intervention Toys 🌟

Did you know that play is one of the best ways to support your child’s speech and language development? Early intervention helps build communication, social, and learning skills during the most important years of brain development.

Some of our favorite toys to encourage communication at home include:
🫧 Bubbles – great for requesting, turn-taking, and early words
🚗 Cars & ramps – encourage play skills, imitation, and action words
🧩 Simple puzzles – build vocabulary and following directions
📚 Interactive books – support language, attention, and early literacy
🎵 Musical toys – promote listening skills, imitation, and engagement
👶 Pretend play toys (babies, food, animals) – encourage vocabulary and social communication

Remember: You don’t need fancy toys! The most important part is getting down on your child’s level, following their lead, and making play interactive. Every play moment is an opportunity to build communication skills! 💙

Our Clinical Director, Kari Sykes M.A. CCC-SLP, presented today at our local ABA clinic on AAC and speech-generating devices in ABA settings! 🗣️💬

Kari shared best practices for collaborative, neurodiversity-affirming support and highlighted the importance of honoring all forms of communication. Her passion and knowledge about AAC, language development, and supporting neurodiverse individuals truly shines through in every conversation and training she leads.
We loved collaborating with RBTs and BCBAs who are committed to learning, growing, and supporting AAC users across all environments. When communication partners work together, children are given more opportunities to communicate confidently and authentically. 🤍
One of the biggest takeaways: AAC modeling matters! Children learn to use AAC when they see it modeled consistently throughout daily routines, play, therapy, school, home, and community settings. AAC should never be limited to one environment — communication happens everywhere, and access should too.
So grateful for opportunities to collaborate with other professionals who are passionate about creating supportive, inclusive spaces for all communicators! ✨
