A couple Saturdays ago, I brought together the TMS Wellness & Counseling Services team for collaboration, connection, and continued growth as clinicians. 🤍

This gathering was more than a team meeting—it was an opportunity to introduce our staff to sound healing and holistic nervous system support as an extension of the therapeutic work we already do every day.

As therapists, we are highly skilled in the power of conversation, reflection, and evidence-based treatment. But healing is not always verbal. Sometimes the body needs support too.

For many clients navigating anxiety, ADHD/ADD, depression, burnout, chronic stress, grief, and trauma, traditional talk therapy alone may not fully address the nervous system dysregulation they experience daily.

That’s why I believe it’s important for clinicians to understand and personally experience additional supportive modalities that can help clients:
✨ feel safer in their bodies
✨ regulate emotional overwhelm
✨ reconnect with calm
✨ and create balance beyond survival mode

At TMS, we believe therapy can be both clinically grounded and holistically supportive.

We are committed to continuing to grow as practitioners so we can better support the whole person—mind, body, and nervous system. 🌿

If you’ve been looking for therapy support that considers both the mind and nervous system, we’d love to support you.
✨ Now accepting new clients for in-person and telehealth therapy.

A couple Saturdays ago, I brought together the TMS Wellness & Counseling Services team to the Restore Her Wellness Studio for collaboration, connection, and continued growth as clinicians. 🤍

A real therapy room moment:

During an adolescent session, a teen disclosed suicidal thoughts. To ensure safety and support, I invited their parent into the session and gently shared what their child had been carrying alone.

Instantly, the parent’s nervous system activated. Their face began to sweat. Their body froze. Words wouldn’t come. Moments later they shifted to, “Call your other parent. I can’t deal with this.”

Right there, in real time, I explained softly:

“This isn’t you not caring. Your nervous system just registered this as a threat and moved into survival mode — first freeze, then flight.”

The next day, the parent contacted me and said:
“I’ve been thinking about what you explained… and I realized this is a pattern for me. I just never had language for what was happening in my body.”

That moment is why understanding the nervous system is powerful. When we have language for our reactions, shame softens, awareness grows, and we gain the ability to respond — not just react.

Psychoeducation isn’t just education. It’s empowerment.

What once protected you may now be what’s holding you back.

Trauma can explain how we learned to survive—but healing asks us to decide whether those survival patterns still serve us.

Growth requires work.
It requires honesty.
It requires the courage to release old versions of ourselves—even when they feel familiar.

If you’re ready to shed the skin and do the work, you don’t have to do it alone.

The Mindful Sistah Wellness & Counseling Services offers culturally responsive, trauma-informed therapy to support you through the process of change—at your pace, with care and accountability.

✨ Healing is possible.
✨ Change is supported.
✨ You are not broken—you are becoming.
