Carl Brian Lipscomb, 55, of Pinch passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at home. He was born in South Charleston, West Virginia, on January 25, 1971, to Carl and Ella Snodgrass Lipscomb.
Brian was a Christian and lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He graduated from South Charleston High School in 1989 and Liberty University in 1995. Growing up, Brian was known for his sense of humor, laughter, love of football and generosity to those he loved. Next to his family and his faith, Brian’s greatest love was flying. After college, Brian joined the West Virginia Air National Guard where he served with distinction as a C-130 pilot both at home and abroad including active duty in the Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan Wars. He treasured memories made with friends and fellow service members as well as his travels around the world.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter Larissa Lipscomb of Hurricane and her mother, Donna. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Beth Mathis (Theron) of Louisville, KY, and Amy Lipscomb Livers (Joseph) of Brookville, IN; nephews and niece Chandler (Rosemary), Colman, and Christian Mathis of Louisville, KY; and Emma, Noah, and Justus Livers of Brookville, IN; as well as extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Elmer and Mary Snodgrass and Talmon (Tad) and Gladys Lipscomb, along with cherished aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at 58 Mt. Pleasant Drive, Elkview, West Virginia, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 11:00 am. A Memorial Service will follow beginning at 1:00 pm with the Pastor Lee Swor and Pastor Tommy Barlett officiating. Interment will follow at Elk Memorial Gardens with military honors. Arrangements are in the care of Curry Funeral Home of Alum Creek.
