Oceans Behavioral Hospital – Amarillo was proud to serve as a Hall of Fame Sponsor for the Clovis, NM Mayor’s Ball, an inspiring evening dedicated to supporting the vital work of Mental Health Resources, Inc.

This year is particularly significant as MHR celebrates 50 years of service to Eastern New Mexico. Since its inception in 1976, MHR has been a pioneer in rural behavioral health, ensuring that residents in Curry, Roosevelt, Quay, De Baca and Harding counties have access to high-quality care close to home.

From their roots at Eastern New Mexico University to their current status as a CARF-accredited organization and a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), MHR has remained a steadfast pillar of our healthcare community. Their growth into a comprehensive system offering psychiatry, substance use treatment, and crisis services is a testament to the dedication of their clinicians and staff.

Today is National Depression Screening Day, a reminder that recognizing changes in your mental health is an important first step toward getting support.

We all experience difficult days, but when feelings of sadness, hopelessness or a loss of interest in everyday activities begin to persist, it may be more than just a bad week.

Depression can look different for everyone, and knowing when to seek additional support isn't always easy. Understanding the signs and checking in with yourself or someone you love can help start the conversation about mental health.

October is National Depression and Mental Health Screening Month.

As a new season begins, it is important to check in with the people around us and with ourselves. Changes in mood, energy, sleep or interest in everyday activities can sometimes be signs that additional support may be helpful.

Mental health screenings can offer an opportunity to recognize concerns early and better understand when it may be time to talk with a healthcare professional. They can also help open the door to conversations that may otherwise feel difficult to start.

If you or someone you love has been feeling overwhelmed, withdrawn or depressed, reaching out can be an important first step toward finding support.

This month is a reminder that you do not have to wait until things feel unmanageable to ask for help

During International Housekeepers Week, we want to recognize two people who play an incredibly important role at Oceans Behavioral Hospital – Amarillo - Aaron and Gloria!

A clean hospital is about much more than appearances. It is an essential part of protecting the health and safety of our patients, staff, and visitors. Aaron and Gloria work hard every day to make sure our hospital is clean, safe, and welcoming for the people who come through our doors.

Their work often happens quietly and behind the scenes, but its impact is felt throughout the entire hospital. They are an important part of patient care and an essential part of our Oceans Amarillo team.

Pictured is Aaron with Krystal from our Finance Department, who helped coordinate special gifts for both Aaron and Gloria in recognition of all they do.

Join us on Friday, September 25, at Cinergy Amarillo for a fun-filled family night aimed at building emotional literacy and strengthening family connections.

Enjoy a private screening of Disney & Pixar’s Inside Out, along with free popcorn, drinks, and refreshments! This is a free family event suitable for children ages 2 and above; the whole family is welcome!
