God is Good!
The shirt that Dr. Young is wearing in this photo is very dear to him. It carries a meaning that dates back about 25 years to his father-in-law: “Attitude is Everything.” Today, he is wearing it just before going into surgery — a big surgery. He is having heart bypass surgery.
Some of you may have already heard about this, but we know this is new information for many of you. Please know that the Lord has gone before us in every single detail leading up to this day — every single detail. Everything from when he got a heart screen just because of family history only to have to continue testing and find out this surgery would be needed; or when we didn’t understand why something was or wasn’t happening a certain way, God knew. It has been amazing to watch unfold, even though it has also been scary for all of us. The Lord is not wringing His hands or worrying about any detail and He is giving us perfect peace that passes all understanding.
Please know that our wonderful Kim and Liz, along with an amazing staff and office management team, have been preparing for today and will be caring for all of Dr. Young’s patients while he is away for 4–6 weeks. Office hours and days will not change. Newborns will continue to be seen in the hospitals. We cannot imagine going through this without our team being here for you. Their support gives us incredible peace of mind. Please be patient with them as they work through these first few days. They, too, are concerned about and deeply love Dr. Young.
Please pray for the awesome surgeon and incredible team of nurses, techs, and everyone involved in this surgery. It has ALL been orchestrated by the Lord! The God winks have been everywhere. Pray for wisdom, clarity and steadiness. They know how special he is to us!
Please pray that Dr. Young will have no complications, excellent pain control, and a very quick recovery so he can be up and moving soon. He has his family by his side, as you can see, and he will be WELL taken care of. We are so thankful to walk this road together as a family and with the Lord.
We will keep everyone updated, and we covet your prayers, thoughts, and well wishes.
Psalm 121 says, “From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord.” Dr. Young and I (Dana) are usually up in the choir loft each Sunday morning, and the song we would have been singing next week is based on the text of Psalm 121. Instead, we are living it — the Lord’s perfect provision.
