In Loving Memory of My Mother

My mother was a truly special woman, and there will never be enough words to describe how much she meant to our family and everyone who knew her. She was the best mom, the best wife, and the best grandmother anyone could ever ask for. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she loved us with all her heart. She was always there when someone needed her, ready to give a helping hand, a kind word, or simply a listening ear. Mom loved rodeos and enjoyed the excitement and tradition that came with them. She also loved animals and had a special place in her heart for them. She loved going to church, where her faith was an important part of her life. She worked at Jack B. Kelly's for several years, and she took pride in working hard and doing her best. She also loved to travel, making memories wherever she went. One of the things everyone will remember about Mom was that she never met a stranger. She could walk into a room and make people feel welcome. She loved visiting with others and especially enjoyed going to the senior citizen club, where she loved to dance and have a good time. Her smile, kindness, and joyful spirit could light up a room. Mom believed in helping others. If someone needed a hand, she was there. She never expected anything in return. That was simply the kind of person she was—loving, caring, generous, and kind.

Although our hearts are broken by her passing, we are grateful for every memory, every laugh, every dance, every family gathering, and every moment we were blessed to have with her. She may no longer be walking beside us, but her love will always live in our hearts. Her memory will never fade, because a mother, wife, grandmother, and friend like her is truly irreplaceable.

We love you, Mom, and we will miss you forever. ❤️

She is survived by her loving husband; Marion Lynn Boyce, son; Johnny Lance Boyce, daughter; Rebecca Ovalle, brothers; Jimmy Gressett, Donald Johnston, sisters; Clyden Blackwell Janell Gressett, 10 Grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Sidney is preceded in death by; Duane Boyce, Malachi Boyce, Rita Johnston, Albert Johnston, Caleb Gressett, and Vicki Ivie.

David Ferril
DECEMBER 28, 1981 – SEPTEMBER 25, 2026

David Lee Ferril, age 44, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026. He was born on December 28, 1981, in Amarillo to J.R. Ferril and Jeni Ferril Rogers.

David lived a life marked by hard work, deep devotion to his family, and a trademark touch of chaotic fun. He fought with courage and determination until his final day.

David was best known throughout the community for his dedication to the family partnership at T-Miller Wrecker Service. He cherished the relationships he built with other community businesses, the City of Amarillo, DPS, and Potter County. Through years of hard work, he grew into a respected pillar of the wrecker community, leaving behind knowledge that will continue to guide and educate many for years to come. This impact was reflected in the many awards and acknowledgments he received along the way, most recently the 2026 Chief's' Commendation and the Legacy of Impact Award for Andrea’s Project.

Beyond his work, David’s world revolved around those he loved most. He was a fiercely dedicated family man who could often be found supporting “his girls,” attending Trae’s events, or simply enjoying time with family. Jacy and David spent the last 18 years growing together and making memories. Their love story was beautiful, steady, and deeply meaningful. One thing David never skirted around was protecting his wife and his girls. Pity the fool who tried to cross one of them the wrong way; David would leave no words open for interpretation.

David was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in hunting, fishing, spending time in nature, and racing around a dirt track. And, of course, there was the occasional haunted hunt — those kids may never be the same.

No description of David would be complete without mentioning one of his favorite pastimes: lovingly arguing with his sister Megan or simply finding new ways to annoy her. A “damn it, Dabit” was a clear indicator that he had struck again. David was always finding

creative ways to cause a little good-natured chaos wherever he went. Those who knew him best knew to stay on their toes. He was an unmatched prankster who found endless joy in making people laugh, keeping life lighthearted, and filling ordinary moments with jokes and playful schemes.

Alongside that mischievous spirit was a deeply caring heart, especially reflected in his bond with his nephew, who was truly his built-in best friend. Their relationship was one of mutual loyalty, constant laughter, and shared moments that will never be forgotten.

David’s legacy of warmth, humor, and unwavering love will live on through all who loved him. It will be carried forward by Megan, Jeni, Rick, and most of all by his cherished Jacy, Alexiah, Brookelynn, and Trae, who will proudly continue to honor his memory every day.

David is survived by his wife, Jacy; his daughters, Alexiah and Brookelynn; his mother, Jeni Ferril Rogers, and her husband, Rick Rogers; his sister, Megan; his nephew, Trae, his wife, Kailee, their daughter, Baylor, and baby on the way; his half-sister, Stephanie Baulke; his stepsister, Cassie, and her husband, Perry Jackson; step-sister Lacie Rogers; his stepbrother, Jeffery Rogers, and his wife, Cierra; his uncle, Byron Ferril, and his wife, Kara; his aunt, Debbie Ward, and her husband, Rick; his grandfather, Lonnie Ferril, and his wife, Carolyn; his father-in-law, Jack Elder; and his brother-in-law, Chris Elder, and his wife, Ericka. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Thrysten, Emryck, Kynsleigh Nelson, Isabelle Elder, Marcus Cruz, Luna Cruz, Brownie Lewis, Deegan Rogers and his wife, Rhielyn, Blanton, Lucy, Cason, Kuper, Haley, Brystol, and Mason, as well as many cherished and beloved cousins and friends.

David was preceded in death by his father, J.R. Ferril; his grandmothers, Joyce Ferril and Dorthy Rush; his mother-in-law, Cynda Elder; his stepbrother, Rickey Rogers Jr.; and his niece, Adalee Rogers.

Flowers may be sent, or memorial donations may be made to the Towing and Recovery Survivor Fund.

Visitation will be held at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Home, 5400 Bell Street on Friday, October 21, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Funeral Service will be held at Family First Church, 6101 S. Bell Street, Amarillo, Texas 79109 on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 10:00 am.

Burial will be at Llano Cemetery 2900 S. Hayes following the service.

David’s laughter, loyalty, and larger-than-life spirit will remain with all who were blessed to know him.
