131 years ago, Daniel David Palmer did something that was truly amazing.

He made what is recognized as the first Chiropractic adjustment.

Just stop and think about that for a moment. What kind of mind looks at the human body and says, “I’m going to apply a specific thrust to this spinal bone, and it may create a change somewhere else in the body”?

Yet that is exactly what D.D. Palmer did.

He adjusted the spine of a man named Harvey Lillard, and D.D. Palmer reported that the man’s hearing was restored. That moment became the beginning of something much bigger. Along with his son, B.J. Palmer, D.D. went on to develop and advance the art, science, and philosophy of Chiropractic.

But perhaps the greatest thing D.D. Palmer discovered wasn’t simply what an adjustment could do.

It was a principle.

A simple truth:

There is an inherent intelligence within each of us.

An intelligence that directs the body. An intelligence that is constantly working within us.

Chiropractic asks us to recognize that intelligence and work with it—not against it.

The Palmer family faced enormous opposition. They were challenged, criticized, and fought against, yet they continued to stand for what they believed was a principle that was good, true, and capable of serving people.

Today, 131 years later, Chiropractors around the world are still carrying that principle forward.

I am incredibly proud to be a Chiropractor.

Not simply because of what we do with our hands, but because of the principle behind what we do.

131 years of Chiropractic. And the principle is still worth standing for. 👐🏼
