As I said in my last post, not everything is an emergency. This has been on my mind a lot especially following the holidays and still feeling the come down from that. It can be difficult to be present but if we do the work to get there, being present can help with so many different areas in your life. Who gets anxious when they’re thinking about going back to work Monday? And all you can think about is the upcoming weekend? When we rush our time like this, we are consistently rushing ourselves, which can create a world of chaos and anxiety. SLOW DOWN! Yes, we all want to sit down after a long day of work…so do that! We can do the dishes before bed or even over the next few days - the only one pressuring yourself, is you. Remind yourself to break up that type of thinking so that when you are finally relaxing, you are allowing your mind and body to fully recharge. 🧠💪🤍

Sometimes doing the smallest things seem silly BUT I will say that these things can be very helpful. I want to challenge you to break out of your routine and attempt to make one small change over the next few weeks. This can be going on a little walk in the mornings, replaying the day in your head before bedtime/thinking about what is to come throughout the following day, journaling, or turning your phone off. Hey! Wake up ten minutes later than you normally do (we all know you aren't getting up right when the alarm goes off) hah! Whatever you try, ensure that you maintain it, and take that time to be present with what is going on, and slow down. Not everything is an emergency!! Sometimes we need that reminder 😁

When it comes to taking care of your mental health and well-being, it's important to remember that it's okay to not be okay.

These are great tips for helping children through distress/panic attacks/etc. Always remember to regulate yourself before approaching, as children often mirror the way we’re handling the situation first. Absolutely love these tips!

To understand why childhood trauma is so detrimental, is to consider what it would be like to be dependent on someone who is hurting you. A child, having to navigate an unsafe person while also needing them for everyday life. If you relate, I'm sending you compassion, & peace. This dynamic creates a sense of powerlessness, confusion, and fear that can be deeply ingrained.

When a child experiences trauma, it can affect their developing brain, body, and emotional regulation. They may struggle to form healthy attachments, trust others, or develop a sense of self-worth. The trauma can also shape their worldview, making it difficult to feel safe or secure, even in adulthood.

As you reflect on your own experiences, remember that your feelings are valid. It's okay to acknowledge the pain, the fear, and the sense of helplessness. Recognizing the impact of childhood trauma is the first step towards healing. It's a courageous act to confront these experiences, and it's a testament to your strength and resilience.

Healing is a journey, and it's okay to take it one step at a time. You don't have to face it alone. There are people who care about you, who want to support you, and who can offer compassion and understanding. Whether it's a trusted friend, family member, or mental health professional, reaching out for help can be a powerful step towards healing and recovery.
