Today, faculty and staff welcomed and introduced new freshman students interested in healthcare by sharing the programs offered in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Over 100 students learned about the skills needed by playing Charades in the lecture hall, completing an Escape Room in the simulation lab, and exercise science activities in the intramural gym in the Storm Dome. The students learned the importance of teamwork and professionalism needed in the healthcare profession as well as all areas of life.

The faculty and staff of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences welcomed Professor Yo Hann Crawford Vance, who lead our college in a full day of engaging presentations and interactive activities to help prepare us for a successful upcoming academic year.

Professor Vance is an internationally respected higher education leader, executive consultant, faculty member, author, and entrepreneur with more than 25 years of administrative and teaching experience. A two-time Oxford University Fellow, he is also the recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award, presented on behalf of the White House, recognizing his outstanding contributions to education, leadership, and community service.

We thank our Dean, Dr. Courtney Ross, for inviting Dr. Vance to GSW and for providing an energizing and productive day of learning, and professional growth.

On Thursday, July 30th, we proudly recognized 48 Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) students who received their nursing pins. The nurse pinning ceremony commemorates the students’ successful completion of their nursing coursework and clinical rotations. Congratulations to the ASN Class of 2026! 🎊🎉
