PSA: Do not put your IV sets in the freezer!

Our tech support has received several inquiries of IV sets breaking before administration after being stored in the freezer. After using our detective skills, we found its quite common, and sometimes problematic. If this is you, we kindly as you store them a room temperature!

🚫DO NOT freeze filtered IV set
✅DO freeze Rattler Antivenom
✅Do warm antivenom to body temperature by using a warm water bath before administering

Myth of the Month: "It's Been 24 Hours. It's Too Late for Antivenom."

I don't know how or why the "24-hour rule" is a thing, but it comes up (too) often. If you take one thing away from this email, let it be this: If you see signs of envenomation, treat with antivenom!

It's a common misconception that antivenom is no longer effective after 24 hours. We've seen firsthand Rattler Antivenom benefit a patient six days after envenomation.

July heat wave during peak snakebite season.

Snakes are out and about during the cool parts of the day and then enjoying shady siestas under decks, in garages, and shady dog pens--the same places your pets are staying cool as well! These are prime conditions for snakebites!

Pet owners, call your vet if you suspect a snakebite and stay safe and cool out there!
