How does a cranial helmet start?

Bryan takes us behind the scenes to explain how we use the STAR Scanner to capture a precise 3D image of a baby's head in just a few seconds. The process is quick, non-invasive, and helps us gather the information needed to design a custom cranial orthosis for each child.

Many parents are surprised to learn that the scan doesn't involve radiation, discomfort, or lengthy appointments. It's simply a fast and accurate way to measure head shape and monitor progress throughout treatment.

At Leimkuehler OP Center, we believe education is just as important as treatment. The more families understand the process, the more confident they can feel about their child's care.

Have questions about cranial helmets? Leave them below and we'll do our best to answer them.

Technology is amazing, but seeing it in action is even better.

Today, Bryan gave us a hands-on look at how the TASKA Hand works and the incredible functionality it offers. From grip patterns to everyday tasks, it's a reminder of how far upper-limb prosthetic technology has come and the opportunities it creates for people looking to regain independence.

Watching these devices move is impressive. Seeing what they can do for someone's confidence, career, hobbies, and daily life is what really matters.

Thanks, Bryan, for taking the time to share your knowledge and demonstrate what is possible with today's prosthetic technology.

Our Annual Leimkuehler OP Center Amputee Picnic is happening this Wednesday, June 10, and there is still time to RSVP!

Whether you're a current patient, former patient, caregiver, family member, or an amputee who has never been to one of our events before, you're invited to join us for an evening of food, fun, friendship, and community.

We'll have:
• Catered dinner from Mission BBQ
• Door prizes and giveaways
• Face painting
• Balloon artist
• Games and activities for the kids
• Prosthetic demonstrations
• Hundreds of amputees, families, clinicians, and friends coming together for one incredible evening

Every year this event gets bigger, and this year we have more RSVPs than ever. If you've been thinking about coming, this is your sign to join us.

The best part isn't the food or the prizes. It's meeting people who understand the journey and making connections that can last a lifetime.

Eight years can change a lot.

The photo on top was taken years ago when Tia was just a little girl beginning her journey. The photo on the bottom shows her today—older, stronger, and continuing to thrive.

What makes these photos even more special is that one thing has remained constant throughout those years: her prosthetist, John.

For the past 8 years, John has had the privilege of watching Tia grow, helping her through countless adjustments, fittings, milestones, and achievements along the way. Pediatric prosthetic care is about much more than building devices. It's about building relationships that last through childhood and beyond.

Seeing these two photos side by side is a reminder of why we love what we do. Watching children grow into confident young people and knowing we played a small role in their journey is something we'll never take for granted.

Thank you, Tia and family, for trusting Leimkuehler OP Center to be part of your story. We can't wait to see what the next chapter brings.

There are days when progress feels slow.

Days when therapy is hard.
Days when your prosthesis doesn't feel quite right.
Days when it seems like everyone else is moving forward faster than you are.

On those days, remember this:

You've already survived every challenge life has thrown your way.

Take a moment to look back at where you started and compare it to where you are today. The strength, resilience, and determination it took to get here should never be overlooked.

Keep showing up.
Keep putting in the work.
Keep believing in yourself.

Your story isn't defined by your toughest days. It's defined by how you overcame them.

Your best days may still be ahead of you.

One of the most common questions we hear from amputees is:

"What are the best exercises I can do?"

In this video, Paul shares his thoughts on exercises that can help amputees improve strength, balance, mobility, and overall function.

The best exercise program isn't always the most complicated. Consistency is what matters most.

Whether you're newly amputated or have been wearing a prosthesis for years, staying active can help improve confidence, reduce falls, and make everyday activities easier.

Watch the video and let us know what exercises have helped you the most on your journey.

Success isn't always loud.

Sometimes success is taking one more step than you did yesterday.

Sometimes it's getting through a difficult therapy session.

Sometimes it's walking a little farther, hurting a little less, or finding the confidence to try something new.

The world often celebrates the big milestones, but real progress is usually built through hundreds of small victories that nobody else sees.

If you're working through recovery, adapting to a prosthesis or brace, or overcoming a physical challenge, don't overlook how far you've come.

Every step matters.
Every improvement counts.
Every victory deserves to be celebrated.

What's one small win you've had recently?

🌿 Wellness Wednesday 🌿

When most people think about health, they focus on the big things. The reality is that our daily habits often have the biggest impact.

A short walk.
A few extra glasses of water.
A good stretch.
Taking a moment to check in on your mental health.

These small choices may not seem like much today, but they add up over time.

Whether you're recovering from surgery, adjusting to a prosthesis or brace, managing chronic pain, or simply trying to stay active, remember that progress is built one day at a time.

Small habits create big results.

What's one healthy habit you're working on this week?
