After a fierce silly string battle with my daughter, I'm happy to report
that my prosthetic knee is officially rated IPSS...

International Protection from Silly String. 😂

I entered the battle confident.

I left covered in silly string, questioning my strategy, and wondering how a kid can reload that fast.

Final score: ✅ Daughter had fun ✅ Memories made ✅ Knee survived ❌ Dad won
Pretty sure she was training for this moment her entire life.

Don't go through limb loss alone.

Whether you're a new amputee, have been living with limb loss for years, are a caregiver, or simply looking to connect with others who understand the journey, we'd love to have you join us at one of our Northeast Ohio Amputee Support Group meetings this month.

📍 Sylvania, Ohio
📍 Elyria, Ohio

Both meetings are completely free and open to all amputees, regardless of where you receive your care. We'll talk about prosthetics, recovery, mental health, adaptive activities, resources, and most importantly, connect with people who truly understand what you're going through.

The flyer has all meeting dates, times, and locations, but please reach out and RSVP so we can make sure we have enough seating and refreshments for everyone.

Bring a friend, family member, caregiver, or another amputee who could benefit from the support.

We look forward to seeing familiar faces and welcoming new ones.

Please contact Josh Green to RSVP.

Question of the Day:

What prosthetic component or accessory could you NOT live without?

Your liner?
A specific foot?
Sleeves?
A microprocessor knee?
Good socks?
A shower leg?
That one random tool you always carry? 😆

Every amputee has that one thing that makes life easier, more comfortable, or just helps get through the day.

Let’s hear yours in the comments.

Does my prosthesis have Bluetooth?

Believe it or not, some prosthetic knees and feet do!

Many of today's microprocessor knees and other advanced prosthetic components can connect to a smartphone app through Bluetooth. Depending on the device, that connection may allow users to check battery life, change settings, switch activity modes, or share information with their prosthetist.

That said, not every prosthesis has Bluetooth, and not every amputee needs it.

The best prosthesis isn't the one with the most technology. It's the one that helps you live your life safely, comfortably, and confidently.

Would you want your prosthesis connected to your phone?

Question of the Day:

What activity or hobby surprised you that you were still able to do after amputation?

Maybe it was golfing.
Running.
Hiking.
Fishing.
Dancing.
Traveling.
Playing with your kids or grandkids.

A lot of amputees discover they are capable of far more than they originally believed.

What’s something you thought you might never do again... but proved yourself wrong?

If I could sit down and have a conversation with my younger self, I'd tell him one thing:

I'm proud of you.

I'm proud of you for getting back up after the hard days.

I'm proud of you for pushing through the surgeries, the stares, the doubts, and the moments when you felt different.

I'm proud of you for playing sports when people thought you couldn't.

I'm proud of you for building a family, a career, and a life you can be proud of.

Most of all, I'm proud of you for simply making it through.

As kids, we don't always realize how much we're carrying. We just keep moving forward because that's all we know how to do.

Looking back now, I realize that little boy was a lot stronger than he ever gave himself credit for.

What would you tell your younger self?

Question of the Day:

What is the best advice another amputee ever gave you?

Sometimes one conversation, one tip, or one honest piece of encouragement can completely change someone’s mindset.

Maybe it was practical advice.
Maybe it was emotional support.
Maybe it was simply hearing, “You’re going to be okay.”

Let’s share some wisdom that could help someone else today.

Drop your answer in the comments.

Question of the Day:

What’s your biggest summer struggle as an amputee?

Sweaty liners?
Socket fit changes?
Heat rashes?
Beach sand everywhere?
Swimming?
Shorts season?
Trying not to melt by noon? 😆

Summer can be amazing, but amputees definitely deal with some unique challenges this time of year.

Let’s hear yours in the comments.

One of the most important parts of being an amputee is taking care of your skin.

Cleaning your liner regularly and making sure it is completely dry before wearing it again can make a huge difference in keeping your residual limb healthy.

Sweat, bacteria, and moisture can quickly lead to skin irritation, odor, rashes, fungus, and even wounds if you are not careful.

A clean liner helps protect your skin, improve comfort, and keep you moving without unnecessary problems.

Stay clean. Stay healthy. Take care of your skin... because once skin issues start, they can become a major setback.
