Amite Rural Health Clinic is a divison of Hood that offers primary and after hours care to people of all ages.

Building a healthier community, one step (and stretch!) at a time.

Hood Memorial Hospital team members volunteered at the Little Bethel Baptist Church Community Health Fair. Our Social Worker spoke on the importance of Mental Health, and our volunteers performed the health screenings. We also enjoyed some light stretching and a stroll around the block!

⛳️🏌️‍♂️ Hood Memorial Hospital was proud to participate in the Amite-Kentwood Rotary Club Governor's Cup Golf Tournament!
Our team enjoyed a great day of golf, fellowship, and community support while joining local businesses and organizations in this outstanding event. We appreciate the Amite-Kentwood Rotary Club for hosting another successful tournament and for their continued commitment to serving our community.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the day a success. We look forward to supporting this event again in the future!

🌀Hurricane season is here, and being prepared can help keep you and your family safe before, during and after a storm. The best time to prepare is before a storm is in the forecast. Here are a few important medical preparedness reminders from our team to you!

🌀Refill prescriptions early: Keep at least a 7- to 14-day supply of medications on hand, especially if you rely on daily prescriptions or medical supplies. Pharmacies may be closed before and after a storm.

🌀Keep important medical information accessible: Store copies of insurance cards, medication lists, allergies, medical conditions, and healthcare provider contact information in a waterproof container or digitally on your phone.

🌀Prepare for power outages: If you use medical equipment that requires electricity or medications that require refrigeration, have a backup plan and emergency supplies ready.

🌀Build a medical emergency kit that includes things like:
• Prescription medications
• First aid supplies
• Over-the-counter medications
• Flashlights and batteries
• Water and nonperishable food
• Phone chargers and backup batteries

🌀Don't forget special needs and pets: Pack extra supplies for infants, seniors, individuals with disabilities, and pets, including medications and important records.

BIG NEWS!

Double board-certified Nurse Practitioner Shea Edwards, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC, is now offering behavioral and mental health services at Amite Rural Health Clinic to patients ages 5 and older.

With more than a decade of experience, he brings a compassionate, patient-centered approach to care to the clinic’s behavioral and mental health services. He is highly trained to help patients facing a range of conditions like, but not limited to: anxiety, depression, stress, ADHD, PTSD, grief, trauma, mood disorders and life transitions.

Shea provides comprehensive evaluations/diagnosis, and can treat of a wide range of behavioral and mental health conditions through therapy and medication management. He works closely with patients to develop personalized plans to meet their needs and improve their life.
