Mrs. Betty Jean Traylor Cummings, 83, of Tupelo, Mississippi, peacefully departed this life on June 13, 2026, at her home.
Born October 5, 1942, to the late Carl and Georgia Traylor, Betty was raised in Chesterville, Mississippi, where she developed a strong faith and lifelong devotion to God. She faithfully served the Lord throughout her life and was a devoted member of Jesus New Testament Holiness Church, where she served on the Mother’s Board.
Betty was known for her unwavering faith, loving spirit, heartfelt prayers, and exceptional cooking. She found great joy in preparing meals for family and friends and was well known for sharing her love through food. She also loved singing songs of faith, and her life was a testimony of God’s goodness, grace, and faithfulness.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Mr. Willie Guy Cummings; her parents, Carl and Georgia Traylor; her brothers, Charles Traylor and Eugene Traylor; her son, James Cummings; her brother-in-law, Ron Clark; and her daughter-in-law, Mary Cummings.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, John Crumb, Vanessa Cummings, Steven Cummings, Sandra Stockard, Willie George Cummings (Alice), Roy Lee Cummings, Robert Lee Cummings (Brenda), and Paul White (Margaret); her only sister, Mary Ruth Clark, Rutherford, TN; 31 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A wake service will be held Friday, June 26, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Darden Funeral Home, 1075 F Avenue, Amory, MS 38821.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Jesus New Testament Holiness Church, 1154 County Road 194, Blue Springs, MS 38828. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Jesus New Testament Cemetery.
