In loving memory of Loretta Elizabeth "Lolly" Earwood.

There are people whose lives are measured in years, and there are people whose lives are measured in the love they leave behind. Loretta Elizabeth Earwood, affectionately known to many as "Lolly," was the latter.

Loretta Elizabeth "Lolly" Earwood, 73, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. Loretta was born in Jefferson County, Alabama. She was the youngest of six children born to Bro. Starling Charlie Earwood and Ervena Loretta Windham Earwood. She attended Tarrant City Schools near Birmingham, Alabama and then later attended Lee High School in Columbus, Mississippi when her family moved to Caledonia. She attended East Mississippi Community College for four years and was a member or the marching band who carried a flute during performances. She also attended Mississippi University for Women for one year. She eventually moved to Amory, where she worked for Alexander's Home Health as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She enjoyed her career as a CNA and dearly loved the patients that she cared for.

To know Lolly was to love her. She possessed the rare gift of making everyone around her feel like family. Her heart was generous, her laughter unforgettable, and her spirit was full of joy. She could make you laugh when you needed it most, offer comfort without being asked, and remind you that life's greatest treasures were the people you shared it with.

Lolly was a constant in the lives of those she loved. She showed up-- not just for the big moments, but for the everyday ones that became cherished memories. She celebrated birthdays, graduations, weddings, ballgame wins, and every milestone in between. Her love was steady, faithful, and unconditional.

For her family, who are all of us, Lolly was so much more than a sister, aunt, cousin, or friend. She was part of the foundation on which so many memories were built. She was there from the very beginning, never missing an opportunity to love, encourage, and cheer on the people she held dear. She had a way of making each person feel special, as though they were her favorite.

She was known for her playful shenanigans, her quick wit, and the stories that will be told around family tables for generations to come. (such as the funeral home walk through, Peter Cottontail, and many others). Her laughter became the soundtrack to countless celebrations, and her love became the thread that stitched together generations of her family. Though her passing leaves an ache that words cannot fully express, her legacy is one of love that will never fade. She lives on in every lesson that she taught, every tradition she was a part of, every smile she inspired, and every heart she forever changed.

Those who were blessed to know Lolly will remember not only what she did, but how she made them feel-- safe, loved, accepted, and important. That is a legacy few achieve and one that will endure for generations. As we say goodbye, we do not simply mourn the loss of an extraordinary woman-- we celebrate a beautiful life that was lived with grace, humor, generosity, and unwavering love.

Loretta Elizabeth "Lolly" Earwood will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered. Her story does not end here. She was a woman of faith who loved Jesus and lived her life as a light for Him. The love she gave will continue to live on in every life she has touched. She would want us to remember that the light and love she shared is the love of Jesus that lives in those who believe in Him.

Lolly is survived by her special friend and caretaker, Melissa Miller (Bronson) of Amory, MS, her brothers Mitch Earwood (Debra) of Hayden, AL and Dale Earwood (Shirley) of Warrior, AL. Nieces and Nephews: Lynette Earwood, Alan Earwood (Gail), Dewayne Earwood (Coleen), Larry Earwood, Stacey Holland (Jay), Michael Williams, Drew Earwood, Deena Parrish (Jim), and Leah Mizzell (Steven), as well as a host of great and great, great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her brothers Charles Earwood, Mickey Earwood, and David Earwood.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 8 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Baptist Church in Hatley, Mississippi. Visitation will be held at Grace Fellowship from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Officiants for the service will be Bro. Danny Carl Burks, Bro. Justin Simmons, Bro. Kevin Crook, and Bro. Matther Gazaway. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery in Parham Community. Pallbearers will be Colby Burks, Reid Farrar, Hayden Evans, Brody Sloan, Eric Sloan, Jason McVay, Greg Kimbrough, Kevin Kimbrough, and Timmy Pickle. Honorary pallbearers will be Bo Ford, Joe Cowart, Justin Farrar, Tim Watson, and Loretta's nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be given to the Children's and Youth Fund of Grace Fellowship Baptist Church, PO BOX 245, Amory, MS, 38821 or online at worshipatgrace. net.
