Major (Retired) Jerry Wayne Parham, 75, of Seagrove, NC, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2026, in Winston-Salem, NC. Born on October 14, 1951, in Amory and raised in the Parham Community, Jerry attended Hatley High School and was a member of New Hope Church of Christ.

Jerry lived a life marked by service, devotion, and purpose. A proud patriot, he dedicated 23 years to the Mississippi Army National Guard, where he began as an enlisted soldier, completed OCS, received numerous medals, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Major. During his military career, he also earned bachelor’s degree in business from Liberty University and William Carey College. After his military career, Jerry continued to serve others through his work at Amory Garment, Georgia-Pacific and ultimately the U.S. Census Bureau, where he remained committed to his duties until recent weeks.

Jerry is survived by his sons Jason Parham (Kellie), Nathan Parham, and Adam Parham; his stepson Brad Wilkerson (Kayla) and family; his grandsons Brayden, Zachary, Tyler, and Kyle Parham; his loving sister Janice Parham; his ex-wife Debbie Carter; the family of his life partner Betsy Skeen; his nieces Heather Senter (Neil) and family, April Weingartner (Scott) and family, and Ashley Vereyken; his nephew Clint Vereyken (Heather) and family; and many other beloved family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Mavis Parham; his life partner, Betsy Skeen; his ex-wife, Sandra Lollar; and his cherished daughter, Amanda Parham. We rejoice in knowing they are reunited in the presence of God.

Jerry loved his family and friends deeply, and he never met a stranger. He had a gift for conversation and a genuine interest in every person he encountered. He took great pride in his grandsons’ accomplishments and found joy in all their successes. Jerry also had a lifelong passion for cars—buying them, selling them, driving them, and collecting them brought him great delight.

Jerry’s life was a testament to faith, service, and love, things that he spoke about and that gave him peace in his final hours. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched, and we take comfort in the promise of Scripture that “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”

May his memory be a blessing, and may his family and friends find peace in God’s enduring grace.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 23, 2026, at 12:00 PM until the service hour. Services for Jerry Parham will be held Friday, October 23, 2026, at 2:00 PM at EE Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Coy Walters and Bro. Chris Zirlott officiating. Burial to follow at New Hope Cemetery in Hatley, MS. Pallbearers will be Brayden Parham, Zachary Parham, Tyler Parham, Kyle Parham, Clinton Vereyken, and Kaleb Wilkerson.

Austin Wayne Howell passed away on October 18, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on July 22, 1940, he lived a life marked by faith, love, hard work, and determination. He will be remembered as a faithful, loving, purpose-driven man who was also hard-working and very strong-willed.

Wayne was Fleet Manager at Mahoney Environmental Company. He took pride in his work and in the way he lived his life. Outside of work, he loved to cut grass, enjoyed going to church, and found happiness in fishing. In his younger years, he also enjoyed scuba diving. These simple pleasures reflected the steady and active way he moved through life.

More than anything, Wayne was proud of his family. They were the center of his life and one of his greatest accomplishments. He shared a special bond with his great-grandson, Noah Howell, who was his side-kick and brought him much joy.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Howell, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage; his son, Wayne Howell; his daughter, Susan Howell; his brother, Earl Howell; and his sister, Nellie Howell.

He is survived by his granddaughter, Stephanie Sanderson and her husband, Chris, and by their children, CJ and Shelby Sanderson. He is also survived by his grandson, Austin Howell II and his wife, Lisa, and by their children, Olivia, Rosie, and Noah Howell. His granddaughter, Jessica Hampton and her husband, Marcus, also survive him, along with their children, Kailynn and DJ Hampton, and Jenna. He is also survived by his brothers, Glenn Howell and his wife, Jean, and Roland Howell and his wife, Sherry.

Wayne also leaves behind dear friends who were part of his life, including Dennis and Kathy Houston, and Ken and Martha Bittles. Their friendship was a valued part of his journey.

Visitation will be held on October 23, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home - Amory, 500 3rd Ave S, Amory, MS 38821. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 24, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at East Amory Baptist Church, 905 Hatley Road, Amory, MS 38821. Bro. Roger Akers will officiate. Pallbearers will be Austin Howell, Zach Fears, Marcus Hampton, Chris Sanderson, CJ Sanderson, and Roland Howell.

Shirley Louise Jones age 78 of Fairview, TN died at home after a brief battle with cancer on October 9, 2026, with family by her side. A funeral service will be held in Tennessee at 6:30 PM on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at Cross Timbers Free Will Baptist Church, 201 Cross Timbers Dr, Nashville, TN 37221. A visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 4:00 PM until the time of service. A funeral service will be held in Mississippi at 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at ONE Church, 60008 Brasfield Ln, Smithville, MS 38870. A visitation will be held on Saturday, from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Maxey Cemetery in Smithville, MS.

Louise was born at home on May 11, 1948, in Smithville, MS. She was a daughter of the late Thelbert “TJ” Armstrong and the late Mary Inez R***r Armstrong. TJ and Inez provided a home environment that made Jesus Christ the central foundation and practiced biblical principles. Louise was raised attending services with her family at Pearce Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Louise graduated from Smithville High School in Smithville, MS in 1966. Following high school, she enrolled in the Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, TN and was a member of the Christina Rosetti Society until she graduated in 1970. She received her master’s in counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University. Louise became an educator and taught school for several years. During those years she became a Mary Kay beauty consultant and began to develop sales skills. In the 80’s she made a career change to become an insurance agent, selling dental, health and life insurance. She worked for 34 years with Modern Woodmen of America all the way up to her passing. She was responsible for planning and directing community and civic events while serving as their district service coordinator as well. She enjoyed sharing information about Melaleuca The Wellness Company and helping others.

Like her parents, Louise was an active church member and a devoted Christian who loved to share the story of Christ. She taught a ladies Sunday School class for many years at First Free Will Baptist Church in Florence, AL. and was a charter member of Cross Timbers Free Will Baptist Church. Louise was an avid reader, and she enjoyed church and family gatherings, especially board game nights. Mexican train dominoes was her favorite game, friendship and fellowship was the prize.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kierstyn Smith; and a brother-in-law, Ellie Hubert McMillan II.

Louise Jones is survived by her two children, Randall Jones of Dickson, TN and Charae Smith (Harvey) of Fairview, TN; sisters, Katherine Houston (Philip) of AL, and Renetta McMillan of MS; brother, Daniel Armstrong (Sandra) of MS; grandchildren, Dylan Jones (Jessica), and Cailen Smith; great grandchildren, Dennis Jones, Bonnie Anne Jones and Lincoln Smith. Louise is also survived by 2 dear friends that she thought of as her own children, P.J. Ashenden and Tatiana Ashenden; the father of her children, Ray Jones; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dovie K. Howard, born Dovie K. Brown, passed away on October 4, 2026, at the age of 86. She was born on June 23, 1940, in Dorsey, Mississippi.

Dovie will be remembered as a God-fearing woman who was loving, caring, humble, and always happy. She brought warmth to those around her and lived with a steady faith that shaped her daily life. Her familiar words, “I love you, but God loves you more!” and “Praise the Lord,” will remain treasured in the hearts of all who knew her.

She found joy in simple and beautiful things, especially flowers, with a special love for daylilies, and in listening to Southern Gospel music. Among the blessings of her life, she was especially proud of Rose and her grands, who meant so much to her and brought her deep happiness.

Dovie was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall Brown and Epell Gillentine Brown; her husband, Ray Howard, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage; and by her sister, Barbara Grimes.

She leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory forward. She is survived by her daughter, Rose Todd; her granddaughter, Shannon Gray; and her great-grandsons, Zeke Gray and Elijah Gray. She is also survived by her brothers James Brown, Jesse Brown, Robert Brown, Johnny Brown, and Hollis Brown, and by her sister, Betty Brown. Johnny Brown’s wife, Annette, and Hollis Brown’s wife, Diane, are also part of the family circle that mourns her passing. In addition, she leaves a host of nieces and nephews who will remember her with love.

Visitation will be held on October 12, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home - Amory, 500 3rd Ave S, Amory, Mississippi 38821. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00 p.m.. Burial will be in Conwill-Goodin Cemetery. The service will be officiated by Bro. Bubba Kennedy and Bro. Joseph Bain. Pallbearers will be Michael Grimes, Logan Bishop, Michael Bishop, Mickey Hood, Noah Bishop, and Ty Brown.

Dovie’s life was a blessing to her family and friends, and her memory will continue to be a source of comfort and love to all who knew her.

Jerry W. Stanford, born June 10, 1950, passed away on September 30, 2026. He will be remembered as a caring, loving, strong, generous, and courageous man whose presence brought comfort and steadiness to those around him.

Jerry found joy in the simple and meaningful pleasures of life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cheering for the Green Bay Packers. Those who knew him also knew the saying he carried with him: “Some days will be sweet, some will be sour-they can’t all be sweet.” It reflected a practical wisdom and strength that helped guide both his own life and the lives of those who loved him. Among the things that meant the most to Jerry were his children and grandchildren, and he also took great pride in retiring at the age of 50.

Above all, Jerry treasured his family. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Stanford; his son, Christopher Stanford; and his daughter, Carrie Card. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Briana Stanford, Jacob Tibbetts, and Brett Card, as well as his great-grandchildren, Kaydon Lynn, Kinsley Kaster, and Emilynn Tibbetts. Jerry is also survived by his sister, Carol Perrault, and his brothers, David Stanford and Jeff Stanford (Kristy). In addition, he leaves cherished friends James and Eudell Hall, Ed and Natalie Kellum, and Dave Petree, whose friendship was a meaningful part of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Nikki Reeves and Jerry Perrault.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on October 5, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home - Amory, 500 3rd Ave S, Amory, MS 38821.
