‼️ Late post ‼️

On Thursday, May 28th we had our last singing session of the school year in Carnegie. We started in February of this year and have been going strong for the past three months. For this last singing night we had Mr. Daniel Cozad come and lead the session. He explained and shared what he knows about our Gkawy Tdighn Pbay Daw Gyah (Kiowa Gourd Dance Songs). He told the story that he was told and knows about how we got the dance and songs. We truly appreciate him for taking the time to be with us. Mr. Cozad is very instrumental to our Gkawy Khat Kome Bah (Kiowa people).

Along with him we’ve had many of our tribes singers come forward to help and share. We want to say Àhô (Thank you) to everyone who has made it a success and possible. For sharing their knowledge of our songs and for encouraging the men and young men that have been attending. They might not know it or think it but that goes along way.

We’ll be taking the summer off and will resume in the Fall. We know June and July are busy times for us all. We hope that everyone has a fun and safe summer. We look forward to seeing each other again soon.

June is Men’s Health Month, dedicated to raising awareness about men’s physical and mental well-being, promoting preventive care, and encouraging healthier lifestyles.

✅ Schedule Regular Checkups: Routine physicals and screenings can detect health issues early.

✅ Adopt Healthy Habits: Incorporate heart-healthy foods, regular exercise, adequate sleep, and stress management into daily life.

✅ Promote Awareness: Use digital toolkits, social media, and community events to educate others about men’s health.

✅ Support Mental Health: Encourage men to seek counseling, therapy, or support groups without stigma.

Men’s Health Month serves as a reminder that taking care of one’s health is a sign of strength, not weakness, and that proactive measures can significantly improve quality of life and lifespan for men and boys.

We had a good crowd this morning at our monthly Elders Talking Circle. We had close to twenty (20) elders sit in and share their stories, advice and ideas. We appreciate each one and we say thank you to AOA Director, Darin Zotigh for allowing us to come in and visit with our elders.
