🐞🦋 Bug Buddies was full of fun and fine motor today! 🦋🐞
Today our Bug Buddies created their own butterfly visors and decorated tote bags! While they were having fun choosing colors and placing butterflies, they were also working on so many important developmental skills.
✨ During today’s activity, we targeted:
🖐️ Fine motor skills by peeling and placing stickers.
🤏 Pincer grasp and finger strength while manipulating small decorations.
👀 Hand-eye coordination by placing stickers where they wanted them.
✍️ Pre-writing and handwriting skills by writing their names on their projects.
🧠 Motor planning and sequencing as they decided where to place each decoration.
🎨 Creativity, self-expression, and following directions throughout the activity.
The best part? The kids were so proud to take home something they made all by themselves! 💛 We love creating activities that feel like play while building skills that support success in everyday tasks like writing, dressing, and school participation.

We will be working on completion of our rebranding over the next two weeks with our flooring, painting, signage changing and decorating.

Check out our new logo and there will be variations throughout the clinic of this cute jellybean!

All of our work will be done during regular closed hours so there is no time lost for therapy 🥳🎈🤞💕

This picture is dramatic. It’s perfect. Symbolic of our clinic’s journey. Like the rest of the world, we navigated the chaos and unknown of the coronarivus pandemic in 2020, but we did without one dime of PPP support, hanging on by a thread.

In 2021-2022, we added more space and more staff, expanding as the community exhaled cries of need post-covid with trauma in speech and social and emotional regulation. Stories that warranted a big response and broke our hearts while boggling our minds.

In 2023, in the quiet of my mind, unannounced to most of our families, I endured a corporate sabotage, protecting you all from those that were supposed to be helping and bringing light to your children. The darkness of this situation was just noise. Noise that I wouldn’t let distract me from the mission our clinic was founded upon. I pushed through that darkness enduring personal losses that are still hard for me to accept as reality. We inhaled and let go of the extra space as the community settled in this new normal.

In 2024, I made the choice to step away from physically being at the clinic, restructured our management. Daisy, Laura and Parisa all worked together to problem solve new systems and create a new normal, in my absence.

2025. So many referring to as the year of the snake. Clearing a pathway with discernment, structure, sternness. Finding our way with Daisy leading our OT department and myself taking back PT mentorship. While you don’t see me there physically, I am viewing all operations daily. Daisy, you have been so phenomenal at providing support and mentorship, creativity, leadership and guidance. I am so grateful for you and our whole team at our growth and cohesiveness over this past year. It was truly a year of preparation and decision.

2026!!!!! You are SO promising! The year of the horse, characterized by movement, fluidity, grace, and elegance. This is our final post as AHPT as we finalize our transition to Green Jellybean Pediatric Therapy.

We are excited to announce the beginning of our rebranding process that our sweet clinic will be going through. All of our families have such a tender place in all of our hearts and we strive to continue to offer the best in everything possible.

You will begin to see some of our remodeling start to happen and then our official name change at the start of the year to Green Jellybean Pediatric Therapy.

Why the name change? When we first opened in 2015, we were a sole proprietor business inside of Anaheim Hills Speech and Language, which was a few doors down from our location today. We moved into our current suites in 2016 (with expansion also in 2017) and always worked alongside Anaheim Hills Speech and Language in partnership (hence our original name) until they retire and sold their office in 2022. We then went through our process to become vendored to offer speech therapy.

We don’t have that affiliation today and want something fun, child-centered, along with a deeper meaning.

Green is a symbol of hope and renewal. We want parents to walk through our door with a deep treasure of hopefulness and renewed thinking, as they embark often on the unexpected journey of parenting a child with developmental delays and special needs. Green is also the symbol of growth as plants, trees and our grounding landscapes around us need trimming, reshaping, nourishment and some times a little extra love to keep up.

Who doesn’t smile when they think of jellybeans? They symbolize the richness that comes from a simple joy of flavor and the inherent sweetness found in appreciating the small moments.

Perfect metaphors of childhood, growth, development and fun captured in the integrity and passion of our staff and facility. We look forward to sharing this rebranding journey with you all! ❤️

🎃 Halloween Occupational Therapy Activity You Can Try at Home! 👻
What You’ll Need:
One pumpkin
Carving utensils (adults only!)
A bowl
A spoon
Pumpkin carving isn’t just fun — it’s a great occupational therapy activity that supports multiple skill areas for children:
🖐️ Sensory Processing (Tactile & Olfactory):
Exploring the inside of a pumpkin provides rich sensory input! Children can work on tolerating and engaging with different textures (slimy, smooth, rough) and scents in a playful, non-threatening way. This helps with sensory regulation and desensitization.
🥄 Feeding & Oral Sensory Exploration:
Exposure to new foods through play helps promote positive food experiences. Scooping out pumpkin seeds and pulp can encourage acceptance of varied textures. You can even roast the seeds afterward to support food exploration and comfort with new tastes.
✋ Fine Motor & Bilateral Coordination:
Scooping, pulling, and sorting seeds work on hand strength, grasp, and bilateral coordination. Have your child match and place the pumpkin’s “face” pieces (eyes, nose, mouth) to target visual-motor integration and problem-solving skills.

This activity also builds attention, sequencing, and following directions — all while creating lasting family memories! 🎃
