Personal Injury Made Easy

Personal Injury Made Easy PIMadeEasy is a coaching, training and education membership program and portal for medical providers MLR is not paid until after our clients are paid.

Medical Lien Recovery (MLR) helps medical providers receive fair compensation for services performed under lien agreements. Throughout California, medical providers of all types — chiropractors, acupuncturists, physical therapists, pain management professionals, and others — agree to treat patients immediately (typically in personal injury cases) by accepting medical liens. In these situations, th

e medical provider agrees to wait to be paid until the personal injury lawsuit is resolved by settlement or trial verdict. Unfortunately, it is all too common for personal injury lawyers to take advantage of medical providers — most of whom lack the legal expertise to fight back or even negotiate effectively. They often shortchange on reasonable bills by hiding settlement results, misstating the law, or bullying the provider to force him or her to accept pennies on the dollar. One major reason providers get exploited: their liens and supporting documents are woefully inadequate, leaving them vulnerable to lawyers seeking to avoid paying the proper amount. Therefore, we begin by providing free access to the MLRPortal, now PI Made Easy. Inside of PIMadeEasy.com, we share lien agreements and related forms that offer proper protection, as well as the leverage that’s often needed when it’s time to collect. We also recommend procedures that clients can take to protect themselves from particularly unprincipled patient attorneys — of which there are far too many. We deal directly with patients’ attorneys and allow our clients to offload their overhead in this area to us, enabling them to focus on healing patients rather than hassling over money. Another benefit: Engaging MLR presents no financial risk to our clients since all monies are sent directly from patient attorneys to them. Sign up at PIMadeEasy.com! 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡?

Swipe left to see how SB 623 introduces a new benchmark and why it could have a bigger impact on providers than the number itself suggests.

Keep reading in 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟓 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓 𝐁𝐄𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐘𝐀𝐋 Series to understand how this benchmark could affect the way providers negotiate bills, account for the financial risks of PI care, and ultimately decide whether continuing to treat personal injury patients makes financial sense. https://personalinjurymadeeasy.com/the-great-betrayal-series-part-5/

Time for Fun Fact Friday!

Did You Know?
The very first Labor Day was basically one giant party? 🎉
On September 5, 1882, thousands of workers marched through New York City and then headed to a huge picnic filled with food, music, speeches, and plenty of celebrating.

It was such a hit that the tradition spread across the country, and 12 years later, Labor Day became a federal holiday.

So apparently, we've been doing Labor Day right from the beginning: work hard, take some time off, and enjoy yourself! 😂

Have a safe, happy, and "you've earned it"-kind of Labor Day weekend!

Labor Day is more than just the unofficial end of summer. 🇺🇸 Discov...

Buried in SB 623 are 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 that could have significant implications for the financial risk behind personal injury care.

Why do those words matter?

Because they may influence how physicians, surgery centers, and other healthcare providers evaluate the risk of treating personal injury patients on a lien basis, particularly in rideshare cases.

The issue isn't simply what happens after a case settles.

It's what happens before treatment even begins.

Providers have to consider delayed payment, reduced reimbursement, medical funding, operating costs, staffing, and the possibility that certain bills may ultimately become "void and unenforceable."

And when the financial equation changes, the question becomes:
Will providers still be financially able and willing to assume that risk?

That could have consequences far beyond billing.

It could affect whether patients are able to access the medically necessary care they need.

So, what are those three words?

“𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐝 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐔𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞.”

Read THE GREAT BETRAYAL – Part 4 to see why these three words could affect provider decisions before a case ever reaches court. 🔗 https://personalinjurymadeeasy.com/the-great-betrayal-part-4-three-words-in-sb-623-that-could-change-personal-injury-healthcare-forever/

And in Part 5, “Who Controls Your Fees?” explores FAIR Health, the 70th percentile, and who really determines the value of medical care.

Time for Fun Fact Friday!

Did You Know?
A blue whale's tongue can weigh as much as an entire elephant. Yes, it's TONGUE!

And that's just the beginning. The blue whale is the largest animal known to have ever lived, reaching nearly 100 feet long and weighing well over 100 tons. Its heart alone can weigh around 400 pounds.

But here's the part that makes it even crazier. Despite its colossal size, the blue whale lives primarily on tiny krill. During peak feeding season, one can consume several tons of krill in a single day.
Now THAT is an appetite of gigantic proportions.

Whatever you do this weekend, make a BIG splash!

Did you know a blue whale’s tongue weighs as much as an elephant an...

Everyone's calling SB 623 a "transparency and rideshare safety" bill.

That's the headline. It's not the whole story.

If you treat PI patients, here are 2 of the 9 changes you actually need on your radar:

1. This isn't every case, it's TNC cases. SB 623 doesn't touch every personal injury claim you treat. It's built around accidents involving rideshare companies like Uber and Lyft. So before you panic (or ignore this entirely), figure out which of your cases actually fall under it. That's where your real exposure lives.

2. FAIR Health just became the judge of "reasonable." SB 623 uses FAIR Health's 70th percentile to decide what a "reasonable" medical charge looks like. Doesn't matter that it ignores your specialty, your overhead, your market. That's the new yardstick. Learn it now, or get blindsided when a bill gets challenged later.

7 more changes are waiting, and some of them hit harder than these two.

WARNING: More of your Law Firm Communication Replies will be AI-generated.

I was just dealing with a law firm, and within 2 minutes of sending an email, I was getting these extensive emails. Reading them, the law was off; one had a blank saying [DATE] ... highlighting again it was AI.

Everyone, do NOT get into arguments with law firm AIs. They hallucinate and aren't on point, and you are wasting your time arguing with it as the AI pulls from the general internet and is often wrong on lien law. Point it out to the law firm; they are using AI and it's hallucinating, and if not corrected, you will report them to the State Bar for violations of RPC Rule 8.4(c) (fraud, deceit, etc.) in most states.

Here's an article highlighting how Google and others are all over the law firm market because they are among the highest adopters of AI.

Alphabet's Google on Tuesday expanded its Gemini Enterprise artificial intelligence platform with new tools for lawyers and law firms, accelerating a race among technology companies to meet legal ‌sector demand for AI. The company said its Gemini Enterprise for Legal would help law firms use AI to...

To everyone who registered for our SB 623 Open Mic Q&A and couldn't get in: we're sorry, and we're doing it again.

Some of the Zoom access and reminder emails were delayed or landed in spam, which meant some of you missed a session you'd planned around. That's on us to fix, and we are.

The discussion itself was worth the frustration. Michael walked through the actual wording of SB 623, what it means for healthcare providers, and what comes next as this moves forward.

So we're holding Round Two:
SB 623 Open Mic Q&A
Tuesday, September 1 at 6:30 PM PT

This time, you'll get a separate confirmation email letting you know your Zoom link is on its way, so if it's not in your inbox, you'll know to check spam right away.

Have a question for Michael? Send it ahead of time to [email protected] and he'll address it live.

No recording will be made. If you want the direct answers, join us live.
