Today's Team Spotlight introduces Whitney Gusman, MSN, FNP-C, a Family Nurse Practitioner serving patients at Bayside Clinic!

Whitney's journey in healthcare began in nursing, where she learned early in her career that one of the most important responsibilities of a healthcare professional is to advocate for every patient. That lesson continues to guide her today as a nurse practitioner.

Whitney believes patients should feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their own care. She approaches each visit with honesty, compassion, and a commitment to providing patients with the information they need to make confident decisions about their health.

For Whitney, healthcare is more than a profession. It is an opportunity to serve others and care for people during some of their most vulnerable moments. Her goal is simple but meaningful: for every patient to leave feeling loved, heard, and informed.

Outside of the clinic, Whitney enjoys spending time with her family and caring for the many animals on their farm. Her growing crew has included a chocolate Lab, steers, ducks, laying hens, Nigerian dwarf goats, and a miniature horse!

Whitney's advice for building a healthier lifestyle is to start small. An extra glass of water or a ten-minute walk may not feel like a major change, but realistic and achievable goals can lead to lasting success.

🌟 Chambers Cares Needs Volunteers! 🌟
Looking to give back and make a real difference in your community? We have a few ways you can help support seniors right here in Chambers County!

1. Congregate Meals Volunteer (Server/Helper)
Help serve warm meals and smiles at our senior congregate sites!
📍 Anahuac: Mondays & Wednesdays
📍 Winnie: Tuesdays
10:00 A.M. – 1 P.M.
Duties include setting tables, serving meals, and assisting with light activities.
➡️ Must have a current food handler’s certificate.

2. Home-Delivered Meal Drivers
We’re also looking for volunteers to deliver meals directly to homebound seniors in:
📍 Anahuac, Hankamer, Wallisville, Mont Belvieu, Double Bayou, Smith Point, Oak Island & Winnie

Delivery routes are quick but meaningful, and every visit brings nourishment and companionship.

Whether you want to serve in-person or drive a delivery route, your time and heart are truly needed. Even just one morning a week can make a lasting impact.

It's Meet the Team Monday, and today we're highlighting Kaye Cormier, LVN!

For Kaye, nursing has always felt like something she was meant to do. As a little girl, she watched every episode of Emergency! she could and dreamed of becoming a flight nurse. When she was born, a special nurse named Lois handed Kaye to her mother and said that one day, she would become a nurse just like her. Lois later became Kaye's mentor, dear friend, and coworker... someone Kaye was fortunate to learn from for many years.

Now, after 33 years as a nurse and EMT, and 33 years of service with Chambers Health, Kaye is beginning a new chapter by caring for the people who care for our community. In her Employee Health role, she supports the health and well-being of staff throughout the district.

A lifelong Anahuac resident, Kaye says Chambers Health has always felt like family. One of the most rewarding parts of her career has been knowing so many of the patients and families she has cared for over the years and making sure they leave feeling comfortable, reassured, and well cared for.

Outside of work, Kaye enjoys spending time with her family, her dogs, her horse, and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys.

Through Chambers Health's Restorative Health program, testosterone injections are available for eligible patients following a provider consultation, medical evaluation, and lab testing.

Today, we're proud to spotlight Brandi Sawyer, FNP-C, a Family Medicine provider at Chambers Health - Dayton Medical Center.

Brandi has been a part of Chambers Health for 5 years and has been practicing medicine for 20 years. Her inspiration to go into healthcare began at a young age after watching nurses care for her sister during a serious NICU stay. Seeing the confidence, compassion, and skill of those nurses made Brandi want to provide the same kind of care for others.

Today, Brandi brings that same heart into every patient visit.
Her approach is simple but meaningful: she wants patients to feel like a member of their own family is caring for them. She believes in honest conversations, heartfelt advice, and helping patients feel informed, empowered, and supported as they work toward better health.

Outside of work, Brandi enjoys spending time in her garden, playing with her grandkids, snow skiing in the winter, and bass fishing in the summer. She also married her high school sweetheart and is a longtime Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Thank you, Brandi, for the care, compassion, and dedication you bring to our patients and the Dayton community. 💙
